Harlan County 40 Bell County 34

Harlan County opens their beautiful new stadium with a huge win.

The game really wasn't as close as the final score indicates. Harlan Co dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. The score was 40-20 and Harlan Co has a couple of penalties that kept a Bell scoring drive going and then fumbled inside the 5 that lead to another Bell score. A big win for coach Tom Larkey.

Predicted this one....HC is on the move with their football program....be hard to deal with.....

Loved the stadium it's probably the biggest HS stadium I've personally ever been to , i bet just the home side holds close to 5 or 6 thousand ppl.

Absolutely hated the LONG walk , We had to park on the highway about 3 miles from the school and than the concession stand was awful the people working was so slow and it took over 30 minutes to get a soda.

Bell County could not stop Harlan County and IMO the TD right before the half is what broke Bell's back.

Well it wasn't the 20 I predicted, but at least I had the winner right.

Awesome facility.

SEBell, are the parking problems going to be a normal occurance or is it at least partly due to areas still under construction?

I didn't see any construction everything looked completed. I think with it being the first ever game at the new stadium and it being rivalry game everyone came out to watch it , I don't think they'll see another crowd like that again unless it's 3 or 4th round of the playoffs against a team that travels well. It's so big that a average crowd will make it look empty.

Mike Farmer that I work with went to the game Friday night. He was in town for his brother-in-laws funeral (They did some kind of tribute for his brother-in-law). He said it was a great stadium and also a great game.

The parking for the games is how it's going to be in the future. I knew something was going to be tight when this area was chosen for the site of the new high school. It's turns out to be the parking. The parking situation was about the same for graduation this summer. Cars were parked along US 119. I've heard the 13th Region basketball tournament is being held there in 2013, not sure if the boys or girls or both. The parking situation will be the same I expect. I would shocked if they park cars on the football field.

I will not attend the 13th region tournament because of this.
