The last time these two teams will play for the foreseeable future, even thought they are two miles apart. The game used to be a huge rivalry, and was suspended for 25 years. The series was renewed six years ago with Russell winning the first year, and Raceland currently holding a five game winning streak one the Red Devils.

 

It seems that the Russell faithful have lost interest in the game, but it still brings a big crowd.

 

Who wins?

I'd guess Raceland will win again. I haven't seen Raceland play, and have seen Russell once. Russell didn't tackle very well when I saw them play.

I used to come down to this game back in the day when I scouted for Lloyd and Russell was in our District in AA. What a great place to watch a football game and they Russell always took care of me and Smitty and put us in the press box. Since Smitty and I were good friends of Randy (Coop Dog) Cooper everyone took care of us and alwas wished a safe trip home. Both Russell and Raceland took care of us and I thank them for that. Especially when you travel 4 hour's to scout a football game. Hate to see this rivalry end. Go Rams as always from your Erlanger connection. JD

You should make the trip for the final game of the series. It's at Russell, but I could probably get you in the press box and maybe even get you a meal while you watch.

Well, Ram, I won't quote anyone specific but I will say it will be a long time before Raceland accepts to play Russell at any level for football for the foreseeable future.

That is the big question, will he play or not.

Russell is still a good program, they just aren't as good as they were during their back-to-back final appearances. I think they still have a good following, but I don't think many of their fans can stand to see them get beat by Raceland. Last year the Raceland/Russell game was held at Raceland and the weather was less then perfect and Russell had a couple hundred fans there. Previously, the game was standing room only. This year will be at Russell and I hope there is a big crowd again.
