Belfry's middle school team is participating for the first time this season. I notice they were an 8 seed, and Pike Central is a 5 seed, even though Belfry is undefeated and has beaten Pike Central this year (maybe twice, not sure). How does all that work?

See post 7 above and that gives the basic concept. We don't look at head to head matchups persay in less there is some sort of tie on the points averages.
October 15, 201213 yr That post wasn't much help, frankly, I didn't quite understand it. You say you get 30 points for defeating a D1 team, but how do you decide what division a team is in to start with so you know how many points you get for defeating them?
October 15, 201213 yr Author Oh ok, how do we decide divisions, that's an easy question. When alignment/classification years come up we use the most current SARR Report provided by Kentucky Department of Education. Normally this report is one school year behind, sometimes its two, so because of that we look at the 6th and 7th graders on that report. Add up the 6th and 7th grade males and you get your male enrollment. Division 1 teams = male enrollment of 236+ Division 2 teams = male enrollment of 161 to 235 Division 3 teams = male enrollment of 1 to 160 Make sense?

October 15, 201213 yr Author So how do you determine the male enrollment of the Union Raiders? Do all the boys go to Gray Middle School? Combined schools to play as their HS feeder. Union gets most of its kids from Gray middle (D1 school) and a few from Ockerman middle (also a D1 school.) Hence Union is a D1 team. We have several teams in the state that do not have actual middle schools, their school district has elementary schools that go through 8th grade, therefore they combine the elementary schools to make a team. Bell Co would be one example.
