August 4, 201214 yr This happened tonight in the Brewers/Cards game. Bases loaded 1 out. Groundball back to P who throws to home for the forceout (2nd out) . Catcher then throws to first to attempt to complete the DP. When the Cards runner reaches 45 feet ie to where the running lane is he has one foot inside the foul line and one foot in the box. Catchers throw goes right by his ear but the first baseman can't see it. Ball rolls to OF and two rus score. What's your call?

I would think the HP ump would be able to see it as well. My daughter was nailed for that by the HP ump years ago in fastpitch. Right call.

While that is the rule, it is a rule that is hardly ever enforced. You can watch any baseball game and see the majority of runners have basically only one foot in the running lane. That is why I said safe, however in the game tonight that I just saw a replay on I would have called him out because the guy was completely out of the running late and it did have an effect on the play.
