Trinity High School senior-to-be Darryl Hicks, who was a first-team All-State selection as a junior, has five college scholarship offers.

Trinity coach Mike Szabo said the 6-foot-4 guard has offers from Western Kentucky, Florida State, Marquette, Boston College and Illinois State.

Hicks, who plays AAU for The Ville, is also getting serious interest from Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Georgia Teach, Wake Forest, Tennessee and Cincinnati.

After sitting out his sophomore season following a transfer from Shelby County, Hicks helped the Shamrocks to the school’s first state basketball title. He averaging 12.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.8 steals a game in 20:10 minutes per contest.

Hicks led the team with 53 three-point field goals and finished the season at 46.6 percent from the floor.

Those are pretty good stats for the #3/4 option on a state championship winning team. I can't wait to see how he does this year.

I hope we all recognize how phenomenal that Trinity team was last year. Hicks was the 3rd or 4th scoring option on that team and he has offers from 3 power conference schools and 2 mid-majors.

I was grateful to see them play in Rupp last year. They were fun to watch.

I've been a Hicks fan since he was a freshman. I hope he shines this upcoming season.

I enjoyed watching them play, but must say the Friday game was bitter-sweet. They showed everyone why they were ranked #1 in the state.

With July AAU coming up. look for Hicks to add more offers.

I don't think Cincinnati is an option for Hicks anymore with their recent commitments by Troy Caupain and Kevin Johnson. (Both top 150 guys)

Regardless, Daryl will see more great things come his way before he eventually commits.

I was one of many that jumped on the Hicks bandwagon with his 30-point performance at Rupp his Freshman year. I hope he shines this year as well.
