Jeff Adams commits to Louisville

Featured Replies

Good pickup for Louisville. If the kid is willing to work, there is no excuse given his size, that he should be a solid to excellent player in the future.

One word of caution about 2a players and smaller. They have not played the competition of 3a and certainly 4a players. David Jones struggled with the transition and it is likely that Adams will as well. The good thing is, UoL can redshirt the kid whereas UK would likely not be able to do so.

Adams played against 4A Madisonville, 3A Bowling Green, 3A Hopkins Central, and 2A Owensboro Catholic (all had large lines) this past year. I don't think that will be a problem for Adams. He just needs to work harder in the weight room and with his conditioning.

You don't think a step up in competition will be a difficult fact for Adams? I do. But, as I said before, he will have the benifit of not being rushed on the field. At UK, he would have gone from Hopkins Central and Owensboro Catholic and 240lb guys to SEC studs.

I know it's a step up in competition. It's a step up for ANY high school football player. Most D-1 commits in Kentucky could start for any other high school team in the state, especially those going to top D-1 programs. If Adams had played at Trinity or St. X, it would still have been a step up in competition and something to adjust to.

But I see where you're coming from. I just don't agree.

Conditioning is his #1 downfall from what I hear. The beauty of that is that if he does not redshirt, that he won't be playing four quarters, giving him a year and a half from now, before any substantial playing time is needed.

Well, he made one good choice, let's see if he can keep it up by working harder than ever.
