June 1, 201214 yr I had a similar event several years ago when I was out of town. 8 inches on average of water in the entire crawl space (2500sqft). Thankfully I had a friend in the mining business who brought me a pump (super high volume) and hose and we got the water out in less than 30 minutes. Looked like a fire hydrant exploded. That pump was serious. And the water company didn't charge me, I can't recall the exact details, but they said they had a "leak policy" of some sort. Bill was the same as it always was. Glad your event is over. Plumbing is a pain in the rearend.

Glad your event is over. Plumbing is a pain in the rearend. I didnt need a pump, the lot slops a bit where the house is. I like plumbing actually. My Godparents own a construction business and I helped them during HS all the time. I just hate crawling around under the house.
June 4, 201214 yr Author Get this, driving to work this morning down my road, its about 515 or so, all the sudden i see water on the road. In my head im thinking did it rain last night? NO, hmmm.....drive a little further and there it is, the house at the top of one of the hills, that has a fire hydrant in the yard by the road....the top of the Hydrant is gone, like it was blown off, not just taken off, and water gushing everywhere. What a mess, their yard had to have at least a foot of water in it, its spraying up in the air about about 20 feet.

Its possible, we had a big water main break about 3 months ago and didnt have water for about 4 days. They have pressure regulators on our water meters that controls our pressure from meter to house, so not sure. My line that busted was bout 30 years old so it was probably just worn out from heat/cold.
