South Oldham 2012/2013

Featured Replies

Basketball season for 2012/2013 should provide another exciting year. What should we expect from South Oldham ? Remember, please be constructive.

Steve Simpson's group could make the 2012-13 season the Year of the Dragon in the 8th region. Many returning players who are very familiar with one another will make a run deep into the region tourney, and just might prevail to be the first team in school history to make the journey to Rupp come March. However, there will be no under the radar status this time around for the boys from South. They'll have to drive it home with each team bringing its "A-game" against the Dragons every night.

They do it pretty much by committee, and have a good and solid unit with a number of contributors, really. Other members may chime in who may beg to differ, but to me, it seems that on any given night a different person may step up to have the biggest stat line - and it isn't always a starter who does so.

South Oldham always has good 3 point shooters.

Retro is right on. Haysley and Sherry come to mind, but they are deep with scorers. All can shoot, handle the ball and play hard.

Goodlet is probably the best but the Hasley boys and Sherry are also very strong. They play 10-11 players and all will shoot the three.

I got to see them for the first time during their first round loss to Collins. They really impressed me with their tempo and their ability to spread the floor.
