Gene Combs is one of the best high school baseball coaches in the state. His baseball coaching abilities shouldn't be a problem with their AD, unless he is totally ignorant. Now, if he is a 'my way or the highway' type of AD, then I could see where he and Combs could clash. Gene can be very stubborn and protective of his baseball program. He was that way at Lee County. And I would like that in a coach if I were a parent who had a kid playing for him.

I agree with others who posted he will not have a difficult time finding a job. He's probably already had numerous offers.

I hate this for Coach Combs. Such a great guy and coach. I do know that he was at the 14th Region baseball tournament. I also hear he wants to be in the 14th Region. Knott Central is open but that's out of the question because of the drive and him and his wife are staying at there home in Montgomery County. Estill is looking for a pitching coach. Not sure what's going on over at Powell but have heard that Varney would be back at Powell next year. The 3 choices that make the most sense (if they stay at there home in Montgomery) is either Estill, Powell or Wolfe, those would be assistant jobs tho.
