Reggie Hensley hit a shot at the end of regulation to send this game into OT, and then hit one at the buzzer to send it to the 2nd OT. Franklin Daugherty paced the Bearcats with 26 points. I believe O'Toole had 22 and Sutherland 20 for the Rebels. Walton had a 12 point lead at one time that was erased by the three point shooting of Owen County. A very exciting game to watch. This one was up for grabs until the final buzzer, as the Rebels had 2 chances to tie it at the end of the 2nd OT. A gutsy performance by both squads. Hopefully, Walton can carry some momentum from this game into Friday's district matchup at Grant County.

How was the guard play for Walton? Did the picking all the way down the floor work?

The guard play was better, but far from good. No, it didn't work, as usual.

He missed a practice this weekend. Do the crime, do the time. It was nice to see them use their strength inside. Reggie and Frank compliment each other well when they can play their game.

I agree I would like to see them establish there inside game with Frank, Reggie and tungate more, because I belive that is where the scoring is going to come from this year. Wombles was huge off the bench last night though. I did notice that owen did make an adjustment at half and he did not score in the second I would like to see Walton try to make some adjustments because we are getting killed by shooters.

Unless they go to man D or at least extend their zone, good shooters will kill them. Wombles was a big spark in the first half, and Jones hit some big FTs down the stretch.

Not really much you can do about it. The guards are not athletic enough to cover outside shooters, hence forth the zone. Imagine how many threes they would have if Walton played MTM. Owen hit 13 "3"s last night. Walton's guards cannot guard anyone/anything.

Couple of things that hit me from this game.

1. A player (Jones) played a lot of the jv game. I got there in the 3rd qtr and he played most of the jv game that I saw. Then he started the varsity game. I don't know if I have seen this before at any game where a varsity starter played the jv game. If they knew before hand he was starting varsity with Hensley out for discipline, why play him jv. Maybe its just an etiquete of basketball? Maybe they just rewarded him for a good jv game.

2. Wombles scored 13 points in the second qtr after not playing in the first qtr. He tends to get lost defensively but is the best outside shooter on this team and it does help open things up inside for post players.

3. This team needed this win, here is hoping for another on Friday.

Just from prior experience. Jones had to start because Hensley was sitting out. Perhaps he didn't feel Jones would get as much playing time after Hensley came into the game. Just making sure Jones still got minutes.

I agree I think they should use Wombles more then they do, it makes for a really good inside out game for Walton.

Unfortunately Wombles' lack of concentration and motivation keeps him from being a better player. He is horrendous on defense and usually clueless on offensive plays.
