April 13, 201214 yr I'd argue swimming trumps amateur wrestling. I was a lifeguard. I'll sit you out of the pool.
April 13, 201214 yr I was a lifeguard. I'll sit you out of the pool. No need. I can't swim. . My daughter swam competitively for several years though. To be in top in that sport requires far more athleticism, training, time, strength in all areas and discipline than I have seen in any other sport.

Competitive swimming requires an insane amount of dedication. I think wrestling is right there with it. However, we are talking about the best sport. Not the one which requires the most time. P.S. How does the daughter of someone who can't swim get into competitive swimming?
April 13, 201214 yr Football may be the best "game". But the best "sport" is most definitely amateur wrestling. Nothing else close... This is definitely off-topic now but I was having a discussion the other day about which sport has the biggest divide between casual fans and those with the expertise it takes to properly appreciate it. I think it's either hockey or boxing but my friends that are into MMA swear that people who don't watch it all the time couldn't possibly understand what makes MMA so great. I'd think wrestling probably sits pretty high on that list. I've tried watching wrestling before (Big Ten and NCAA Championships a few times) but it takes a lot to get into it.

Well just because I can't swim doesn't mean she couldn't. She loved it for a while. When it became more work than fun, and she realized she'd lost her competitive spirit, she stopped. Unlike her mom and her brother, she's not very competitive by nature. She tries to be HER best. She doesn't get enjoyment out if "besting" others. I wish I were more like her.

I've tried watching wrestling before (Big Ten and NCAA Championships a few times) but it takes a lot to get into it.One of the bigger problems with wrestling. It definitely takes a good understanding of the sport to really appreciate it. I'd say it's definitely near the top of the totem pole, unfortunately.

Almost without exception all of my family is hyper-competitive. Makes for interesting get togethers.

April 13, 201214 yr Is cornhole a sport? I would say so. It requires skill. If backgammon is a sport, certainly cornhole should.

April 13, 201214 yr Is cornhole a sport? I don't know, but I think I should be considered semi-pro if it is! You're talking to the four-time NKU Intramural Champion baby!!!
