  1. Curry did an extra tap between steps--it wasn't even close to legal. I agree, it's a walk at times but under the NBA rules--when done properly--it is not a walk. From the time you gather the ball (which I assume, Duece, you are talking about) you get two steps. So, when done right, he gathers on the dribble as he's stepping forward and his two steps back are his two steps. We can all agree that the double step back is traveling.
  2. I think it goes way back but has become more used in recent years. I remember Jaime Walz at Highlands using it regularly in the early and mid 90s. I think the NBA (Larry Bird comes to mind) has had many doing a step-back jump shot for a long time but more from a set position or off of a stand-still dribble. I think the move has evolved from there out of necessity with defenders becoming more athletic and bigger.
  3. Do either of you know the NBA traveling rule? It is different than every other league in the world.
  4. The Saints have to be more prepared. THey should have known this and thrown to the other side of the field during critical moments in the game.
  5. Your situation isn't going to happen but you can have refs and umpires at a scrimmage or preseason practice and they would likely be willing to talk to players, coaches, or parents.
  6. I agree that this is a problem and that is likely getting worse. With that said, are there any schools, individual programs, or referee associations that are doing anything about it? Sadly, it not too far of a stretch to make this comparison, but something like getting police officers and the community to come together. Or something like the Bengals do with the ladies program and introductory classes by having something for fans to attend. Of course the ones who need it wouldn't show up but a Q&A for fans on some of the basics and most often misunderstood calls might help a little.
  7. NKU with a pretty impressive performance. Their defense is what puts them on top of the conference--I think they're the only ones besides Wright State who plays it consistently. After it was 21-20 at the midpoint of the first half, NKU shut down GB for the next 20 minutes and was up by as many as 22. They held GB to their lowest total of the season. Chris Vogt had his coming out party. NKU was looking to pound it inside against the smaller Phoenix from the get go. With McDonald injuring his lower left leg (presume an ankle injury) and only playing 12 minutes, Vogt took over the game. He finished with 20 points, 14 rebs, 3 blks, 3 ast. His development has been impressive this year. NKU was balanced with Walton breaking out of a slump by scoring 17, Sharpe scored 14, Tate with 12, and McDonald with 11 in his brief time. Hopefully, McDonald's injury is just a sprained ankle, even if he needs to miss Saturday. They would likely be able to get by Milwaukee at home without him.
  8. That is an incredible number of games and an even more incredible number for wins. Congratulations!
  9. Sisson with 23 points and 17 rebounds Leigh with 18 points Starkey with 15 points
  10. CC was 12 for 20 from the line. That's better than their season average.
  11. When was the last time Highlands defeated NCC in basketball?
  12. But they're not playing a quarter. If the second possession went to the end of the 15 minutes, it would not end the game. That is my understanding of it with the new OT rule. Both teams must possess it but it's sudden death after that, so time on the clock is irrelavent.
  13. Hypothetic and it would be difficult but in the playoffs, that wouldn't end the game, would it? The other team would get the ball. There is essentially no game clock in overtime in the playoffs.
  14. It was a QB call. The DL swung his arm and hit his front should right next to his head, which to the only two officials watching behind him, looked like it hit his head. Was it a bad call? Sure. But, from behind, it's a call that all QB's get now. It didn't really change much anyway. The Chiefs weren't going to stop him. Does anyone doubt Brady converts the 3rd and 7? They were 13 for 19 on third down conversions.
