No way I would jump to the NBA line. That's a 3' difference--way too big of a jump. The percentage hasn't changed so I don't see a reason for it. The increase is a result of more and more coaches realizing what guys like Pitino figured out immediately 30 years ago AND, more recently, analytics. The best shots are (in order): free throws, two pointers in/near the restricted area, and threes; followed way behind by mid-range twos and post...

No one cares about these games but 90 points in a half is pretty impressive. The Jackrabbits were 16 for 21 on threes and 35 for 46 overall (both 76%) in the FIRST HALF. They hit 23 of 34 threes for the game. School records and conference records galore.

Agree to disagree on what constitutes a blowout. I never said UC wasn't better that night or predicted an NKU win. I thought NKU would play them much better and was disappointed in how they played and that they didn't--something I'm sure you heard JB say as well, you know, since you were there. Next time, use things I actually say or dispute points that I make.

    67-53 under 6 minutes...that's not a blow out.

Could a moderator please change the title of the thread to "UC blows out NKU, 78-65."? Thank you.

Most coaches in America will take 8 for 22 when they're a significant underdog and anyone would take 11 for 25 (the last three DO count). I didn't say UC didn't dominate the glass in the first half, so not sure what your point was there. UC was running a match-up press and NKU got the ball inbounds and didn't get rushed or out of control which is what it is designed to do. Even if Mick put a red light on the traps, they still handled full...

I thought NKU got good looks all night. They were 11 for 25 on threes and I don't remember many bad ones. They got into the paint quite a bit. Drew made his moves inside but nothing was falling for him--the help defender blocked him a couple of times but nothing like UCF. They got more offensive rebounds than UC and had several put-backs baskets. They didn't get into late shot clock situations that I can remember. And, they had no trouble...

I wouldn't question hardly any of the fouls ON the Norse. In fact, they played poor defense and had four or five dumb fouls. It was what wasn't called on UC (and the "T").

Nothing really went the Norse way after the first six minutes or so. Next 12 minutes was filled with missed free throws, UC making nearly every free throw (16 for 18 at the half), and defensive breakdowns. You can't win with McDonald going 3 for 15 and Walton going 2 for 11. Both missed a ton of inside shots--Walton 2 lay ups and Drew didn't make a shot in the first half. Disappointing that they didn't give themselves a chance...

If you believe UCF and UC to be relatively close then NKU has a real chance here. NKU shot terribly against UCF and hung around. UCF had much more size to give NKU trouble. UC is coming off of a game across the country on Saturday evening. Yes, UC is the favorite and SHOULD win but NKU has much more than a punchers chance.

Cold start and then a sloppy finish but in between NKU was nearly flawless for about 25 minutes. They went on a 36-2 run and led by as many as 30. If everyone is available on Tuesday, I think it will be a very competitive game.

Norse were a little bit careless with 17 TO but shot it extremely well in the second half. Faulkner started in Tate's place which is a much better fit IMO. He contributed nicely. Good to see Robinson be a little more aggressive and have a big game with 20 and 5 assists and Walton scored 15. As stated, McDonald and Sharpe were great tonight.

Groin injury. Not sure of the severity. Hope he's back for the UC game at least.

I get what you're saying with the math. The question then is, are they a top 5 team if they DON'T play this way?

This was from the weekend but I thought NKU really competed well if this is the best team in the American Conference. It was a 2-point game at the half but NKU needed to be up 6 or 8 because UCF didn't defend very well. They were trying to run the Norse off of the 3-point line but that allowed drive and kicks for wide open threes as NKU moved the ball very well. They ended the half a decent 6-for-16 on threes but they were all wide open...
