  1. They would have offered him off of his film if they really liked him. Camps are for kids who's film don't convince the coaches. Now, you can earn an offer at a camp but very few will stand out to that level. Moreover, Ohio State is only after the cream of the starred kids. Don't be discouraged...you have to pimp your kid shamelessly. But, be smart about it. Get a good trainer and work to improve his perceived deficiencies and then go at it again. But, be realistic Ohio State is after 4 and 5 star kids. Those are rare. Plenty of good schools out there. Email or call the coaches...you need to get information on their needs etc. You can do this yourself. Don't waste your money on a recruiting service.
  2. I'll let you know after we scrimmage them at St. X (Cincy)on Aug 22
  3. I wonder if Richard Skinner with his Ky connections didnt have a lot to do with this game coming to fruition...being as close to Tom as he is.
  4. Thanks guys....I'm gonna give NCSA a try and really enjoyed the article about Drew Barker's journey.
  5. The same issue. Basically, a Cincy X or Elder wants to play a Trinity without seeing other GCl schools (or in the Bombers case the GCL schools AND Colerain all of which are already on the Bombers schedule) on Trinity's schedule. Said another way, GCL schools want to play Trinity during a season when Trinity is not playing any common opponents. Example, the Bombers beat Trinity and beat Colerain during a season when the Bombers and Trinity also play say Colerain. The Bombers will get their level 1 points from the straight out wins against Colerain and Trinity BUT when Trinity and Colerain play there has to be a loser. So, the Bombers will only get level 2 points from the winner of the Colerain/Trinity game and not from the loser of that game (for that game only). It gets kinda maddening after a while....a whole Harbin industry has sprung up as a result of this system. It seems kinda silly to worry about level 2 points until you barely squeek in to the playoffs as was the case for the Bombers last year.
  6. But, a team like the Bombers will get less points if they beat a Trinity for example and Trinity gets beat by a Moeller, or an Elder or a Colerain....teams that the Bombers also play. My point being that the Bombers would probably be better off point wise if they played a Trinity in a year that Trinity wasn't playing any of the teams that are already on the Bombers schedule.
  7. How can you say "bailed" when they just changed up their schedule a little to reflect the realities of the gauntlet type schedule they were playing which frankly never game them a chance to heal or get healthy. I bet it comes down to the same cast of characters fighting for the same playoff spots. If anything, the added division is offset by the increased parity of the norther suburb schools imo like Sycamore, the 2 Lakota's, Mason etc which is simply driven by changing demographics of the population leaving the inner city and going out to the burbs.
  8. This game is usually a very hard fought game on both sides.
  9. I agree with this and following the logic it makes much more sense for Colerain to play Trinity in a year when Trinity will also play Moe or Elder or maybe even LaSalle if they can ever get the coach thing settled. I'll ask Coach next time I see him. I also think that Bolden and Specht had this same discussion..just my gut feel.
  10. I'm not sure Trinity would have wanted to play against Ramsby & Co. It is tough enough to play against a team who runs a strong triple option. Last year Ramsby was also throwing darts to his WR's which made it a quadruple option. It takes a very disciplined defense to shut that down.
  11. I look at it as if "coaches" are public figures anymore. Heck, good HS football coaches are darn near celebrities in their home cities. So, it would seem almost impossible to me to keep the lid on something like that for very long. Everyone, including the secretary's husband and the office manager's spouse is looking for the scoop when it comes to coaches...which is why I laugh when people put a microphone in front of a coach who is looking at a job and the expectation is that the coach is going to tell the truth...not realistic in this day and age for most of them. They would be better served with a "No Comment".
  12. As close as Specht and Boldin are, it makes me wonder whether those 2 had a conversation re who was going to play Trinity this year.
  13. Personally, I loved playing Trinity. However, I have to admit the officiating at the end of the game last year left a bad taste in my mouth. I hope the series continues in the future.
