I agree with Q's analysis about the call late. Should have been a no call. Btw, Patrick Towles did an incredible job defending Jake Geisler all night. And what a pass from Towles to Big Jack to put the game into OT (shades of an NCAA tourney game in the early 1990s). Congrats to Ncc and the esp the Highcew kid - wow, tremendous effort. I'm sure the Birds are dissappointed as this game was winnable. And looking at the Regional draws one would want to play St. Henry vs. Dixie (understatement).
Birds looked better than I've seen them recently. Towles was very strong inside. Other than some turnovers this was a very good performance. Good to see a lot of the Birds future play the 4th quarter. Game was a blowout from the beginning.
Big Jack to the rescue - Crowley had a double/double. Too bad we can't even qualify for a box score in the Enquirer, let alone a small article. Nice win Birds, keep it up.
Last year NC, Highlands and Newport were all worthy of being in the Regional tourney. Esp considering some of the other districts. I'd be in favor of a seeded Regional tournament. Always thought the district format is out of date.
It was great to see Jack Stewart back on the court! His presence seemed to settle the Birds and no doubt big Patrick Towles loved having a second big man on board again. Frosh Nick True was also solid in the post for the Birds. Although Conor Crowley had an off night scoring he played the entire game and was very steady. Seven Hills had a solid squad and were well coached.
Hopefully Cannon Crazy can go to the banquet today and not come back. As a Highlands basketball fan I find these types of quotes embarrassing. As for the game, hats off to Robinson for Conner, he was very impressive. Patrick Towles also had a good game for the Birds, taking the ball to the basket with authority on a number of occasions.
Nice win and very good effort by the Birds last night. Very exciting game to watch. Hope Bird fans turn out - five home games over the next 9 or 10 days.
