Lincoln never, ever said those words...in his time, he would have said the exact opposite! Summary of the eRumor: Alleged quotes from Abraham Lincoln about the poor, the weak, prosperity, workers, class hatred, and character. The Truth: These words are often attributed to Abraham Lincoln, but according to the book They Never Said it: A Book of Fake Quotes, Misquotes, & Misleading Attributions, they are not from Lincoln. The quotes were published in 1942 by William J. H. Boetcker, a Presbyterian minister. He released a pamphlet titled Lincoln On Limitations, which did include a Lincoln quote, but also added 10 statements written by Boetcker himself. They were: 1. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. 2. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong 3. You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich. 4. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. 5. You cannot build character and courage by taking away man's initiative and independence. 6. You cannot help small men by tearing down big men. 7. You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer. 8. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income. 9. You cannot establish security on borrowed money. 10 You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they will not do for themselves. People who got the pamphlet thought the 10 statements were written by Lincoln and they have been distributed widely under Lincoln's name. Just more people trying to hate on President Obama through false means...thought you might want to know.

How to beat Trinity and Highlands.
Kansas City Shuffle replied to birdseye's topic in KY Football (High School)
I can't believe how far off most of you are on this answer....Both schools happen to be located in the two most populated areas of KY....and they also happen to closely border other states....They recruit, of course, but they don't have to put a lot of effort into their recruiting. The best of the best go to these schools to win a state championship and to be seen by Div. 1 recruiters...I don't blame them....Had I had that option in high school I would have chosen to go and win a state championship as well...Until KY creates a super class and places these types of schools into that class...This is how big school football in KY will be... -

Tyler Jackson looked absolutely fantastic during this tournament...I would hate to face East Carter right now! -
Don't forget East Carter in all this common opponent talk...The Raiders play Russell, Fairview, Raceland, Greenup, and Boyd County...just thought that East might like to get in on this mythical championship!
-
Don't give up on East Carter so quick....we might surprise a few people this year...and it isn't the triple option out of the shotgun, it is the wing-t out of the pistol!
-
You can't seriously think Russell is better than East defensively!!! I would say the 2 best defensive teams are playing each other in the first game of the tournament!!!
-
Whew!!!! Upper bracket is LOADED!!! 78-27 W-L record according to KHSAA scoreboards! Lower bracket is 57-51.

Schools NEVER have to honor coaches cards at anytime, it is simply a COURTESY -
And while we are talking about the EKC, Tim Carper, assistant commish has more integrity in his little finger than most people have in their entire body. When it comes to high school athletics, he is THE MAN!! Nobody and I mean nobody cares more about the high school athlete than Tim Carper

I was there and watched all of both teams games, Ashland almost won anyway but they looked like they were playing in a swimming pool full of water about chest deep and Valley was bouncing all over the place. Ashland was the much better team, along with the talent they had they were one of the most disciplined and fundamentally sound teams I have ever seen.

62nd District Tournament
Kansas City Shuffle replied to spindoc's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I understand that East did argue that the Commodore Classic was a 2 day event and shouldn't count but did not provide any false information as SOME people said, the KHSAA made the ruling after looking at schedules and later (and correctly I might add) reversed the ruling. Why would Morgan be any more mad at East than East would be with them. I've heard the AD's met and talked it over with no hard feelings either way.
