  1. I'm from Owensboro and it's been a devasting scene around here and many counties surrounding Daviess. 80% of Owensboro lost power Tuesday night and now the number is down to 50%. Ohio county still has 85% with out power. Saying it will take up to 7-10 days more before everyone has power restored. Most land lines are still down but cell service came up last night. The coaches would have called I'm sure if they could but no way to communicate until late last night-today. I've lived thru an F-3 tornado and the wind storm last Sept and this is by far worse than those......by far.
  2. Much closer game than score indicated as DC had to start fouling, SC hit their free throws. Opening game for DC and it showed. Very impressed with SC and they will be darn good in the 8th region. Dc was led in Scoring by Alex Stivers-16pts game high and Taylor Grayson 14 pts SC was led by Hicks-15pts, Johnson-14pts
  3. Kentucky Thunder 17U is mostly made up of Muhlenburg North players.....Clark, Dillingham, Oates, McElwain, etc.......I heard they picked up Civils from Muhlenburg South and Alex Stivers from Daviess Co.
  4. Alex Stivers had 17 points last night for Daviess Co. Lead the team in scoring every game.....18 against Silver Grove (played half of game), 24 against Boone, 21 against Newport......made All Tourney team.
  5. It's not a suprise to anyone in the 3 region as Daviess is pretty good. Tall, atheletic, and a young team...only 2 seniors on the team. Alex Stivers (junior guard)led them last night with 24 pts, Taylor Grayson (junior) had 15 pts, and Hayden Simon (soph) had 14 points in the winning effort. Daviess is 10-4 on the year.....has also beat Owensboro earlier in the year who represented 3rd region last year at state and narrowly lost (by 4) to Apollo on the road. Another interesting fact is that Daviess has only played 1 home game out of 14 !!!! They have a big home stand in Jan.......:ylsuper:
  6. O-boro was missing 3 good players....2 because football just ended for them Friday night and one for a team violation. Two of them are returning starters from last season. However Somerset has a nice team. Another O-boro area team , Daviess Co, played before this game and played well. Beat Estill Co 71-49.
  7. I'm curious on the 3rd region top 10 teams and top 10 players ? Thanks in advance.
  8. DC should have a solid season in 2007-2008 as they return 3 full time starters and 2 part time starters. Could play as many as 9-10 kids. Stivers a 6'2" Junior did lead them in scoring and rebounding last year as a soph. and is an agressive player especially driving to the rim. Biggs a 6'6" Senior should help on the interior as he had a decent Junior season. DC plays in a tough district with Apollo, O'Boro Catholic, and Owensboro .......this will be the toughest district of the third region as DC, O'boro, and Apollo all will be projected to be in the top the region with Muhlenburg North in the mix.
  9. Apollo graduated 4 seniors off last year's team however they still have 6'2" All state candidate Tyler Brown returning for his senior season. Apollo will have 5 decent starters but not much proven depth or height. I think Brown will be the tallest starter ! Team speed & quickness will be their strongest upside. Terrance Johnson came on at the end of the year and will be counted on to help bolster the offense and deflect some of the opposition's defensive pressure on Brown. Hopper, Apollo's coach is a master in getting the kid's to buy into his style of play. Apollo should be by season's end a top 3 or 4 in the Third region.
