  1. you cant make a late call on some hail marry fade away! Let the players decide it in OT!
  2. Gallatin's numbers are up slightly from last year...GC looked pretty good Friday night against Ludlow, I am looking forward to Saturday Afternoon on the turf! I will take GC by 7!
  3. I don't think there is any way Simon will not make it to the Region...play like they did tonight, I would like their chances against any of the 8th Region teams...Anderson County seems to be the class of the region but Simon Kenton proved tonight they can play with the best...keep those fires burning, I think you may be a factor the couple of weeks! As for Holmes, I think they will be fine...I know they are the most athletic team I have seen this year...Good luck to both teams in the post season!
  4. Terry lives in Shelby County...therefore he cannot call a game the Shelby County plays, the only reason he did not call the Region finals last year...
  5. "Coldiron will be in those finals!" Unless Shelby County is there!
  6. I would like for my son to have a break every now and then...however, in the real world of small school football, we just do not have the players to sub...we dressed 17 players in the post season and lost one senior starter in the second quarter of the first game...our kids stepped up and still won that game...only to lose handly to Frankfort the next week...so in this case, it is not possible to consider not playing both ways!
  7. In the 8th region it is $75 each for a 2 person varsity game and $65 each for a 3 person game...so, $150 vs. $195...an increase of 23%...well worth the difference! FYI...all regular season district games are 3 person crews in the 8th Region...
  8. My son played Optimist Football with Jordan...he is a BEAST where/what ever he plays...not only that, he is a great kid...good luck @ OSU in 09-10...
  9. I believe the rule book states that any hard, unyielding braces must be covered...I will try to find the exact rule and paragraph number and post it back to you or send it to you in a PM...On a second note...I am impressed with the effort and desire this young lady plays with, too bad she had a tear again and in her Senior year...Good Luck luck the rest of the season and beyond!
  10. Good Luck Coach Poynter! From a Gallatin County Football parent I wish you nothing but success, I hate to see you leave our area...YOUR Trimble County teams have been a great rival that plays with huge desire to win...you lead by example! Growing up in Bourbon County, I know you will have your hands full! Stick to your guns my friend...YOU are a great Coach!
  11. I was at the game, with 2.2 seconds left GC called time out...clock stopped with .8...an Official can put the time back on the clock if he/she is possitive of the difference...this case was rule book correct...I would expect nothing less from Mark Howell...1 of the best officials in the 8th Region...sorry HC, the score keeper had nothing to do with YOUR loss! Good luck Trent, I hope your recovery is quicker than expected...SUPER JOB GC!
  12. BCB...I was told Trent twitsted his ankle...nothing at all, however, Coaches gave him the night to rest it...so I was told!
  13. You are correct...an 8th grader can play Freshman Football...however they cannot have contact practice with the JV or Varsity...or that is what I was told...my son played Freshman Football @ Louisville Male as an 8th grader, Male was extremely careful not to allow him, or the 1 other 8th grader playing up, to have contact with the upper class...in the playoffs, these 2 young men were able to travel with the team but could not even wear a jersey on the sidelines...Coach Redmon was careful not to chance losing a year of eligibility...
  14. If I understand correctly, the only sport that a player cannot play up on varsity is football... heavy contact sports...no way is this going to include basketball...
  15. First..Congrats to Frankfort, you were the best team we played this year...good luck next week, I know it will be a tough game...I may even drive back to watch! I would hope your fans will turn out better than last night, you deserve better than that...you all play a great game...my son (even though we were crushed both games), commented on your performance on the field...a though team that plays with true respect...jokes throughout the games, no trash talking, a helping hand up after the play ends, from both teams...great job! Now, I cannot tell you all how PROUD I am of these Wildcats!...I would challenge ANY teams to only dress 17 kids and play 12-14 of those, pick 5 from the jr. and sr. class and scatter the rest from soph and fresh... Try that on for size...you can only practice one side of the line at a time, if someone gets hurt, a senior and junior...sub an underclass man that has little or no experience and play big time football...we have done this all year...I think this proves our teams commitment and how dedicated our coaching staff is...Coaches, THANKS! Please do not take this a poor little GC, I am only trying to let some of the big timers know what these small schools deal with...I am sure there other schools in similar situations, however, we have been very successful in our 3 years... Once again CONGRATULATIONS to FHS...and all of the remaining Football teams left in the game...play safe, play hard, and good luck from a Gallatin County Football parent!
