Very good game by both teams. Boone County starter Nathan Davis only gave up 1 first inning hit by Beechwood's catcher Burns, but a couple of errors and the one hit gave Beechwood a 2-0 lead which Hyde made hold up until the 7th when Boone got there lone run on a sacrifice fly by catcher Gascon and then left the bases loaded for the win. By the way both starting pitchers Davis & Hyde will be playing for the Bluegrass BUZZ this summer! Not a bad first game for Boone and debuting JV Coach Bob Meyerhoff, first time on a field for Boone after practicing on one also for the first time yesterday. -
Awesome job Joe Martin and Luke Hennigan! Going to be a fun summer!

I'm not getting in the normal stupidity on here. All I did was state that they did not QUIT! One of the Bluegrass coaches stated that they might as well quit if that's the kind of calls they were going to get and the JB Yeager coaches bolted out of the dugout and pulled the bases while the umpires headed for the gates leaving everyone standing around wondering what was happening. The tournament director said there was nothing he could do. As far as I know, the catcher should have been the one tossed for the fake tag and creating the contact -

That is not at all what happened. The facts should be straight before posting. Bluegrass had a runner coming home with the ball being cut off, therefore there was no play. The catcher fake tagged the runner causing very minimal contact. The runner was called out for trying to run over the catcher and ejected. In discussing the call, one of the coaches said something along the lines of "if this is how it's going to be, maybe we should just quit". The coaches for the other team then ran out and pulled the bases, the umpires left the field and called the game. This was told to me by another one of the coaches that night. -
I'm not against this change at all, I agree with others that good hitters are still going to hit and your average hitters might lose a few cheap hits. But, I saw Miguel Cabrera from the Tigers take a vicious bad hop grounder below the eye and that was from a wood bat obviously. There are still going to be some rockets hit up the middle and third basemen will still need to be on their toes, because if a strong kid makes solid contact the ball is going to travel. If it saves one kid, it's worth it.
