Almost Every State Champ team in the United States

Which is a true statement, so after your regular season, you do play in a playoff system. For example, in the City, there are two divisions (Championship (for large schools) and Invitational (for large and small schools that don't feel they would do well in the Championship division.) You are ranked and seeded according to how you did during the year and if you won your league (about 5 teams), then you play in the playoffs. The playoffs, run from the beginning of November until right before Thanksgiving. There are 16 teams in each playoff. -

The way it works in California, they only have the top 3 divisions play for a State Championship. This is actually something new for California. You have the the top 3 schools from the North play against the top 3 from the South. There is no playoff system and the schools that are chosen to play are picked by a committee. So, you could go undefeated through the year and still not get chosen to play in the championship game. The voters are really biased towards the LA City teams and believe that all the talent is located outside of the city. (Orange County, private schools, etc). The team that lost to DeLasales this year should not have even played in the game, it should have been a city school, but, because, the team that did play, beat the city school in week one, they chose that school. There are way too many schools in Calif to have a true playoff system. -
Played for Coach Daughtery, when he was the coach at Lloyd. Great coach and motivator. Never had to worry about getting pumped for a game with him in the locker room. I remember, he took on the whole offensive line, to prove to them they had to stay on their blocks and that was when we played Holmes (81-84).

Congrats to the Tigers and to Coach Rash, way to bring it home to NKY.

I think Lloyd tried to go with the legend and not the health of the man. I am sure that with the proper rest and treatment Yeagle will be good as new. But, I don't think he needs to come back as a coach again.

Newport at Lloyd Predictions

Nothing against Yeagle because he is a great coach, but, with him not being there for the team it is kinda hard to get fired up. Hopefully whatever the aliment is, will heal itself and the Juggs can get back on track. Lloyd 28 Newport 14 -
While watching the game I noticed the Lloyd lineman looking at plays on their wrists, was this something only for this game or did they do the same in the E-town game. They should know their assignments by now, could help in the long run, to be able to quick call plays.

My heart is always on Lloyd to take it all. But, I think the emotion and everything will have Beechwood take this one.

I remember watching Highlands play E-town in the 3A State Championship, back in 81, when Highlands went 15-0. Wow, how the classes and teams have changed.
-
Why is the game being played at 9pm. Hope Lloyd has learned a lot in the little time they have been with Yeagle. Go Juggs. Juggs - 24 E-Town - 17

I was actually held back in the 11th grade, but, it was for maturity and academic maturity rather than athletics. Although, I didn't get to play an extra year of football, because I was held back in high school and not prior to 9th grade. Thanks Lloyd Memorial.

I say they try to get a lot of the former players and have them start coaching. Never hurts to have coaches that went through the system and have excelled.

Seniors who were held back
JUGG81-84 replied to isthatallyougot's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I would have to disagree with all of you. I attended Lloyd back in 80-84. I was actually held back my junior year, for the purpose of moving from CA and not having the educational background. But, I was told that I would not be able to play sports my senior year, but, I was able to play both junior years. And it was not due to age either. -
Best/worst coaches in NKY?
JUGG81-84 replied to wildcatfan's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Best and Worst Coach - Bill Code (Lloyd), was great when the other team wasn't and was the worst when under pressure. If anyone remembers the Regional finals in 82 and 83.
