  1. I don't think Clyde means anything negative about the boys or is trying to be smart. It is a glorious notion that all teenage boys are team oriented and do things that are best just for the team with no regard for their personal feeling. That'd be a great sports world. But reality is, a team player (Which I'm 100% sure every JV kid at HHS is) is also a teenage boy with feelings, hopes, and thoughts and to think that the thought hasn't crossed their mind like "Man we might get blown out Friday...St.X is unreal...I should get mom to tivo this just in case" is just naive. Everyone boy wants to hear their name on national television, don't care what school or what team you're playing for.

  2. Pass D seems a bit suspect for CovCath, and if you make turnovers like that against a team who can convert it could really hurt. But CovCath totally dominated this game. Beechwood fit the 1A bill, they were small and young. Vocke and Colosimo look to be up and comers for them. Wasn't very impressed with Rigdon, but I'm sure it's a tough position to be in, because there isn't much around him and his line gets owned.

CovCaths line gave Erpenbeck all the time in the world to throw, that was good to see. It's a lot easier for him to get comfortable and not just take off if he knows he doesn't have men coming at him.

Overall good job by CCH and good job by Beechwood for almost making it a game and forcing some big turnovers. Dixie and CovCath will be a good game..

  3. lol, I just saw the post where someone actually said that that if Highlands were asked to play the Bears today they would and they'd known the Bears were in for a butt whoopin. There is something to be said for such extreme enthusiasm lol.

I'm with whoever said that Highlands and Louisville St. X and Trinity should all try and schedule each other, (I don't know if they already have, or what), because I think those would be better games and show who the best teams in state are as opposed to how close we can come to being as good as Ohio.

  4. I think the better question is Do 68% of you honesty think St. X will beat the Highlands Blue Birds Friday, or are you picking St. X because you are a St. X fan?

lol, I would venture to say there are far more Highlands fans on this board than St. X fans, and for sure there are more NKY fans. So really it's 68% of people just honestly know that St. X is way too much for Highlands. And the other 32% know as well, but are eternal optimists. Nothing wrong with that...

  5. lol, some people were all doom and gloom and talking about how the season was basically over after last week on a freak ending, and now everyone is pumping fists and jumping up and down. This is kind of what I was talking about with the fan support. Anyways, this is exciting for the Bengals, because barring that freak ending they actually could be 2-0 right now, but 1-1 is better than most were predicting and they didn't look bad at all. Their D in particular should be proud. Carson, as someone else said, isn't elite. He's good, not bad. But not great. And that may be okay really, it may be good enough. I still feel like he is injury prone and it's comin...

After the Steelers losing tonight and the Bengals having this momentum swinging their way, I'm going to be a rare optimist and say they play the Steelers close next week and maybe even win it. :)

  6. Highlands defense just won't be able to hang with St. X. The offense should be able to for a while, with the passing game, but Highlands is about to go up against a team with more size and speed than them which is something they never see in KY. It'd be a great story for NKY and Highlands if they pull it off, but if you look at this realistically, it won't happen. St. X by 2 Tds.

  7. I had some people try and talk me into a sorority when I first got to NKU. I had just moved to the area shortly before. I was dating a guy in a frat and would hang out with him and his friends out near the middle of campus, and sometimes they would join up with the girls (some sorority there that was trying to get me to join, they're green and pink lol) and I kid you not, the girls were so unbelievably snobby and so unwelcoming to outsiders I was turned off immediately and it only further tarnished the image I had of the greek thing. My friends who join groups that aim more towards their interests seem to be the most happy and most welcoming and that is more the type of thing I like seeing.

  8. I'm not a big fan of fraternities or sororities, especially the ones at NKU since I have the most contact with them. I think there are a lot of organizations and ways to meet people other than these, and I feel like some of my friends who joined them at the beginning of college cut themselves off from other people because of the "cliqueness" that developed. That being said, ATO is probably the best you could have done. They had some nice guys, some not so nice ones, but overall pretty good. Good for you to not go the PIKE route. That is a laughable group. And I know people will tell you not to say frat, and you'll probably become one of the ones who starts to tell people that, but it's SO much fun to call it a frat to guys in them. A guy I dated was in one, and he literally would get angry and not talk to me if I called it a frat. Needless to say, we didn't work out. :) Have fun and enjoy college!

  9. The cream is starting to rise to the top as the season moves along. The true contender is separating from the pretenders. If you look at the votes on the poll, there are some that probably need to reconsider their vote. This is about Mr. Football 09, it doesn't really matter if somebody had 3,000 plus yards rushing last year. It is not a contest to determine the most popular football player in NKY either. Antonio Andrews is Mr. Football

Simpsons' name being there has nothing to do with being the most popular football player in NKY. He deserves every bit of recognition based on his play. It isn't a popularity contest, or a vote for prom king or queen, but it's starting to seem that way with the endorsement at the end of every post you make.

Andrews deserves every bit of recognition as well, but don't taint his name by attaching it to your put downs of two of the best football players in NKY and the state in Collinsworth and Simpson. I appreciate your enthusiasm don't get me wrong, but to try and discredit either of those two young men is sad.

  10. Right now, Andrews, Macshara, Simpson and Collinsworth are my leading 4.

Collinsworth is impressive, just seeing him you know he is something really special and he can do it all.

Simpson is a beast, and has single handedly changed the face of Simon Kenton football IMO. He has put them on the radar and they have a good amount of talent on that team, but he is an absolute standout. He's a rarity. One loss against a quality opponent shouldn't hurt his chances.

I haven't seen MacShara play, but if you keep putting up those numbers you get my respect and if I had a vote to give you'd get it. That is absolutely insane. Just a question, how good is Boyle County? Are the opponents quality opponents right now, or are is this a particularly cupcaked portion of the schedule? I truly don't know that's why I'm asking. Those numbers are something else..

Andrews has just always impressed me, and his numbers do the talking.

  11. I was surprised by this score, and I will stand by what I said about LaSalle and many others who have seen LaSalle and other Ohio teams would still agree. It's very impressive for them to keep a game this close with Elder, and I was also impressed with Trinity last week for keeping it that close. Perhaps Elder isn't quite the beast I thought they were, as I'm seeing St. X may be the big one to worry about over there. But I still don't think LaSalle would be Top 3 based on what I've seen of them. Defensively they're fine, offensively not so much. Could they have improved vast amounts, lol I'm sure and I'm not planning on going to watch them anytime soon so I'll probably not know. But I'm not too worried about it. CovCath has improved from that game lol, so maybe ya'll should just let it go. You may not agree with what I have to say about your beloved, but I wouldn't say any of it if it weren't true, and besides I was far less impressed with LaSalle in the game anyways. Thank you. :)

  12. This should never have gone to criminal court, and it was an absolute waste of the states money to do so. The people who claimed it as a witch hunt were dead on, and I found the comments by the mother saying "someone needed to be held accountable" and "we're just glad it got to a jury" very sad. Sometimes there isn't always someone to blame; sometimes there are accidents. This belonged in civil court the entire time, and I'm sure it will end up there, only because i don't know if this family has the ability to let it go. I feel horrible for their loss, and no one should have to bury their child, but another persons life should not have to be ruined as well. He did not cause nor intend for their son to die.

As for if he should coach again, or will he? If I were him I wouldn't after what he's gone through. In fact, with the way this all went down, every coach in Kentucky should have been scared about that verdict. Anything can happen any day at practice or a game and if you're one of the unlucky coaches who loses one of your players, not only do you suffer the emotional trauma to you personally and to your team, but apparently now it's potentially criminal (assuming all coaches ARE well intentioned and not out to cause harm to their players). That's a scary thought for all coaches out there.

  13. Corey Littrell is the real deal and will be the best pitcher in KY next year. Here are his stats from last season/summer:

    Trinity Spring Season:

Record 8-2, 70 IP, 93 Ks, 27 BBs, 38 Hits given up, and only 4 earned runs (0.40 ERA).

    KBC Summer Season:

Record 5-0, 36 IP, 39 Ks, 11 BBs, 21 Hits given up, and only 4 earned runs (0.78 ERA).

    Combined Stats for Spring/Summer:

Record 13-2, 106 IP, 132 Ks, 38 BBs, 59 Hits given up, and only 8 earned runs (0.53 ERA).

    Convinced?

I wasn't asking to be convinced of anything. I legitimately had not heard of the kid. I was not implying he was bad. I just have no idea who he is. I followed high school baseball very closely as my brother played for CovCath for four years, so I was at a lot of games and kept a close eye. I just thought I'd have heard about him. You had nothing to convince me of and I'm sure he'll be a fine pitcher this year.

  14. Does it really matter what type of law he was practicing?

    Honest question.

I don't think it matters, aside from the topic in question that he made an outburst about had to do with illegal immigrants being covered under healthcare. So him saying he was an immigration lawyer, if he was in fact not, was him trying to make himself credible and relatable to the issue, and really he might have just been lying which is hypocritical given his outburst.

  15. I just think it's sad he had the outburst in the first place, and then that people try to twist anything and everything to make it drama and newsworthy as a spinoff.

And it also disgusts me that because he is from SC and has ties to Strom Thurmond that makes him racist, and his outburst had to have been racially motivated. I'll let everyone know, I'm from SC, and the most racist people I've ever met, have been from this area and from the northeast (Virginia). Everywhere has the token racist people, but him being from the south doesn't automatically imply this was racially motivated. And it also wouldn't surprise me a bit if he exaggerated and said he was an immigration lawyer, being that he cried out "You lie" in respond to healthcare covering illegal immigrants. He'd want to have some credibility on the issue. I'm sure the thought never crossed his mind people may actually check. (Which either means he's an idiot, or it DID cross his mind and he didn't care.) He's a politician. Unfortunately the expectations these days just aren't that high.

  16. Averaged over 43 a punt against LaSalle. Punting will not be a problem.

While I wouldn't necessarily say CovCath's punting game is struggling, it isn't strong either, and Vocke is a big weapon on returns. Also during the Lasalle game, did they really avg 43 a punt? If so that's incredible given the -1 yard pooch punt and I believe one or two other poor or failed attempts. I don't think that was a good game to use as an example of CovCath's punting. I think it's improved since then. Who are they using?

  17. I FULLY understand what you are saying. There is a difference between understanding and agreeing. All I'm trying to say is UC hasn't really done much, and people ( not you ) want to send them to another BCS game already.

By the way Rutgers was 5.5 favorite thats not really being expected to whoop somebody. :thumb:

Everyone I talked to and everything I read had Rutgers whooping them. I don't put much stock into that stuff anyways, but it was just that the expectation was exceeded for UC was my only point. I'm not ready to crown them National Champions better than FL lol, but I think they are definitely worthy of their ranking. And it's okay, trust me, I disagree with a lot of people, and I let them know about it. lol

  18. Why all the talk and discussion about these young men playing football at the D1 level in college ? Who's to say that they will not play at a different level once they reach that point in their life? Who's to say that they will want to play football at all after high school? It is my humble opinion that all this talk and rhetoric about a high school athlete playing at the D1 level does a huge injustice to that athlete. Why not let the primary focus of discussion be about what they are doing now in their high school careers and let the chips fall where they may?

For the most part, the kids I talk about I know have an ambition to play in college. And I think everyone is speaking based on what they are doing now.
