Bellevue High really had a great time last night celebrating their homecoming week. First, I got to walk with my daughter in the parade and watch her in the Powder Puff game (she didnt win). Then the bon fire was a lot of fun. It was so much fun that about 5 Datyon football players came to join us as they stood under the 471 bridge. They should have came on over, we would have been hospitible!!

People can color or spin this issue of tuition all they want. If they choose to go to a particular school for academics, then great.
If it is for the sport, then say so. Don't use the academic argument to justify it.
-
Most people realize that talk is just that. Talk. Tuition students have come to Highlands for years because they feel that playing for a high profile program is going to give them a step up when it comes to being recognized as a potential college athlete. A good program, either from an athletic or educational standpoint, doesn't have to recruit. The results speak for them.
This is the whole problem.

...and your point is...You have superior academic schools with superior football programs and you are going to take issue with those schools because people want to send their kids to school there. I don't get it!!!
Every school can do this. No school district is not permitted to build a good football or any athletic program. Maybe the answer is to make your school safer and more academically successful.
You know "Build it and they will come":scared:
I agree that they are fine academic schools. However, kids will learn anywhere, if they want to learn. This is even true of Holmes (no offense Holmes! but the academic index speaks for itself) Just sending a kid to these schools is no guarntee of a better education, that is up to the kid. However, if my little Johnny wants to play for a winner, I will send him to Highlands or Beechwood, because of academics. :sssh:

Would anyone on BGP actually be naive ehough to think these teams are that great without getting players from outside the district? regardless of whether or not they are approved transfers or tuition students, I see both of these teams year in and year out with superb players from outside their districts. Would they still be good teams without these players; YES. IMO, that is what is taking these teams to the next level.
As Noel Rash would say, "It is what it is!"

I have seen both teams play and it looks as if Bellevue will sub more often than Dayton does. In a close game, I think the Tigers will be the fresher of the two teams.
-
They did switch the playoff format to that of several years ago. This district will play another the first two rounds of the playoffs.
-
That's the bulletin board material that the Tigers need to get them through the week:ylsuper:
They had that when Richardson from Dayton said in a Ryan Ernst article,
"It's Game Over!":fight:

Could someone inform me on what the "Paddle" is. Sorry I'm ignorant to this tradition- sounds like a good tradition- someone fill me in.
The "Paddle" is a new travelling trophy that was presented to both schools last year by a Bellevue Assistant. It is a wooden boat paddle that has one side painted Gold for Bellevue and the other side Green for Dayton. The winning team will then add the score and year on it. The Paddle represents both schools being "River Cities".
The concept really took off as Dayton incorporated the theme into their homecoming game last year.
Dayton won last years game and thus won the 1st "Battle for the Paddle".

On paper, this should be an easy win for the Tigers. But with most rivalries, you can pretty much expect Dayton to come fired up and ready to play. Bellevue had better not take this game to lightly.
I'll pick Bellevue to win the paddle and sing the fight song to the home crowd!!

The Lloyd QB injury would be the reasonable explaination as to why this game was closer than expected. Lloyd is a very good football team. Dayton, not so much. Hope his recovery goes well.

I heard that Mr. Faust either resigned or was fired at Bracken. Does anyone know if there is any truth to that?
It is true. Coach F. is no longer at Bracken. As always there are two sides to the story!
-
Does anybody know the records of the Frosh/Soph teams of the following:
Bellevue
Dayton
Ludlow
Walton Verona
Bishop Brossart
Bracken Co.

never mind. Made new thread

The tigers probably roll in this one, but for them to throw two touchdowns, lets not get crazy!
 You might be right about the two td passes!! Bellevue will win and in all likelihood play the JV in second half. Good luck Tigers.
-
Not sure it was supposed to be an onside kick or not. Bellevue has been inconsistant in that area. Even if it was, 21-0 in the first half is still legit. Now if it was running clock in the second half, I would have a problem with it.
-
Congrats to Bellevue on the win. Brossart has more than a long way to go. The best of luck to both the rest of the way.
After watching Brossart play against Bellevue the last two years, I would almost have to say they more competitive last year with the Olliers.
I also dont get why Brossart coaches make their kids run sprints after getting beat like that to a better team. Were they punishing their players for losing? I also heard that Coach Rienhart (sp?) did not shake the Bellevue's coaches hand? Anyone know anything about this? I don't think the Tigers ran the score up.
-
Mustang is right. Brossart was overmatched from the first whistle. They still have a long way to go. Glad to see the Tigers win again, and especially come out without any injuries. :thumb:

Awesome actor, and person.

Just wanted to clear the air about Mark Kelly being suspended. It was a teacher error and by the time it was discovered it was too late for him to be reinstated for the game this week. Mark will still have to sit out this weeks game against Holy Cross (probably not a bad idea anyway to get some rest). I just feel it needs to be known that he was not at fault here and the administration dropped the ball.
If it is an administration fault, then why let a kid suffer the consequences? What does this say about the administration if indeed it was them that "dropped the ball"?
As always, there are two sides of the story.
-
The JV has been playing nicely. I'm very impressed! Go Tigers.
-
Bellevue will sub early so they can get some back-ups plenty of reps these next two weeks to enter the second half of the season strong.. Good Luck, and what do you guys think of a different version of the song like rapping it or sing it like country haha :dancingpa
Bell-52
BB- 6
Where have you been? We haven't heard from you in few days.
A country version or rap would not sound too good. How about a "haka" version!!
-
Didnt the Tigers lose last week badly?:thumb:
Yes, to a larger class school who get players from all over Campbell Co. without boundry restrictions and who is a favorite to win state.

I didnt know Chuck Norris played for Campbell Co.?!

I think both teams match up well in size and speed. The qb situation at Lloyd, IMO puts them at a disadvantage. They would normally like to spread you out and use their speed. However, I do not see them passing well and I think Bellevue can focus on the run.
Bellevue 34
Lloyd 14
