  1. And there you go. Isnt this this the very reason that the State has the ALL A Tourney? Give the smaller schools their due and a chance to play in the Region and possibly win a State Championship without having to face the embarassment of losing to a bigger school or program. Funny how when the shoe is on the other foot in this PC society these same schools and system goes out of their way again to eliminate the Bigger programs and schools again, but this time from the only tourney the Big Schools and programs are allowed to play in. All this by using a blind draw to their advantage in an effort to eliminate the competition. The last time I checked tourneys are played on the field of play to determine winners. Not by "the luck of the draw" just so a non deserving team can claim a spot in the Region over a victim of Politically Correctness. Does the ALL A have a blind draw? Or is it seeded? I dont know, Iam just asking. I just think that Bellevue, Dayton and Newport need to do the right thing and that would be to agree to seed. Not real sure what message is being sent to these young kids to say "hey, if big brother (KHSAA) doesnt stop us then why not take full advantage" Its because you deserve it and you have earned it. Great Job. :ohbrother:20n10

The Region and state All A draw but just the champion of the region advances to state so it really does not matter because the best team of the region will play their way through.

  2. Okay, correct me if I'm wrong. From what I've been told, there are kids who live in Bellevue, Dayton, Newport, Ft. Thomas, and Alexandria who attend NCC. So kids from Bellevue/Dayton are competing against a school with kids from different cities? Take the private/public school part out of it. That's a different issue. How good would NCC be if there would only be kids from Newport who went there? I'm talking year in and year out?

Most of the kids that go to NCC are out of Newport, Ft. Thomas, and Cold Spring.

  3. I thought they were 2A. Don't they play 2A in football and track?

NCC just won the ALL "A" Classic. Yes with the class system in football they are 2A, but before they went to 6 classes they were 1A. But in basketball they are class A. Newport is class 2A in football and have been even before football went to 6 classes

  4. A couple years ago in 2006 Highlands and NCC were on opposite sides of the bracket and Newport went in and took down a pretty good team in NCC down and team that had D-1 Player Klei on it and then took down Highlands in the final so it can be done. But they went on and won a game in the region. I bet you those girls really felt good because they earned their berth into the region tournament and were able to compete in the region. They knew that they were not just going to get lucky and get blown out going into the region.

  5. THEN THE STATE SHOULD CLASSIFY BASKETBALL! Why is that never brought up???????? Why would Dayton/Newport/Bellevue vote to seed? Makes no sense for them to. BTW, the bolded statement above is pretty classy. I know the Bellevue kids are happy to have a chance to play in the Region. They've played hard and improved a ton, so why should they feel ashamed. They've had a pretty good year for them. Why do they not deserve it? Just because they don't play the larger schools? Year in and year out, how is Bellevue/Dayton/Newport supposed to compete with Highlands and NewCath?

The point is that the 9th region tournament should be made up of the 2 best teams from each district and not made up of teams that got a lucky draw.

  6. There's very little good that comes out of this draw, but at least it's on a neutral floor.

The rest of the region would love for the 36th to continue to do the draw forever.

I don't see it changing anytime soon Dayton/Newport/Bellevue will never vote to seed, so thats 3-2 and that will never change at least not in the near future.

  7. I'll concede to a point. If you look at most regions every year their are on 3 or 4 teams who vie for the title regularly. I've seen a lot of games from across the state this year and the 9th is as competitive as any. Marion county is the only team to dominate so far, their only loss coming to Cincinnati Walnut Hills.

The 9th at the top is as good as any region, i think that the only region that may be better is the 7th region.

  8. Ryle, Boone, and NCC are as competitive as last year...but, NDA, HC, Holmes, HHS, Ludlow, Conner, SH...etc..are not as strong as they have been over the past 3-4 years...I can extend that list to Scott (about the same), Campbell, SK, Dixie, BB...and I'm sure I'm missing some...if that's not enough to convince you then it's all I have.

Ryle, Boone, and NCC are all 1 player (Moss or Sandlin, Crittenden or Jump, Sandfoss or Tabor) from being impacted big time...again, just my humble opinion.

I agree the region is very good at the top but night in and night out there are not great games in the region, there have been a lot of blowouts. The region is normally pretty consistent, but not so much this year.
