  1. I did think, though, that the refs may have been letting them play just a little too much. Did anyone see that kid hit Keith Downing on the head while he was standing by the ref? He had just fouled him, and was pestering Downing even after the foul was called, and Downing kind of jerked away, and then he just hit him on the head while the ref wasn't looking. I thought the 2nd half was going to get really ugly there for a minute.

Well it took near an hour to play the 2nd half so not sure how many more they could have called. It had to be at least 30 in the 2nd half alone. And if you were sitting on the Montgomery side you could see Stull say My Bad as he patted him on the head.

Hope this win gets everyone off of Ohearn in town. Best team always wins no matter the site, just look at 38th district with Harrison, 39th district with Bracken, 40th district with Montgomery, and 10th region with Montgomery. Not a single home team won a championship in the 10th region this year. :sssh:

  2. Montgomery County jumped ahead with the games first 8 points and it was not until 5:49 left in the first quarter before Scott scored. At that point Montgomery turned up the defensive pressure and turned Scott over numerous times and fueled a 14-0 run to jump ahead 22-2 from the 5:49 mark until Scott scored their 4th point with 49 seconds left in the quarter to go ahead 22-4. Montgomery County shot 15-20 in the first half for 75% and near 60 percent from 3 point range in that half.

Just like the first half for Montgomery and their 14-0 run, Scott comes out of the locker room and starts a 16-4 run of their own but really never got any closer in the 2nd half than 13 points. The 14-0 run sucked all the gas out of the Eagles at the end. Scott is not a fast paced team, averaging 56 points a game on the season so Montgomery County did a good job getting them into their flow of the game. Hendrix with 17, Stull with 16, 2 other starters with 12 apiece to lead the Indians. Turnover department was pretty even, something like 21 to 19 Scott with the larger number.

Go to the Herald Leader online and it says 28 and 29 turnovers. Must have been a very sloppy game.

  3. Without a doubt, Henry Clay is one of the hottest, if not the hottest teams in the state right now. When Coach Cromwell sat Rucker for the first game of the district, I think it really fired her up and she's been playing great ever since. I'm also impressed with #22 for the Lady Devils. She played really well against Dunbar.

With that said, I think Mongtomery's experience of being at the state tournament the past 3 years will really come in handy against Henry Clay. The lights of E.A. Diddle are a little brighter than most.

I'll take Montgomery Co. by 6.

How much different than playing the #1 and #2 teams in the state at EKU's arena are they?

  4. Fun game to watch. Camels only hit 15 of 27 foul shots for the game. Both teams had two starters foul out. Thought the refs could have let them play a little more. Its a shame when that many fouls are called. Two class teams. Thanks to the four Camel seniors for a great season. It good to see Camel basketball back in the regional tournament. Camels were up nine going into the last quarter and Clark hit several threes to get them back in the game. It was hard for Camel fans to get to the game by 5:00. I agree a 6 and 8:30 start time would be much better. Very nice facility, first time I have been in the new gym.

They don't call enough, they call too much. No fan of either team here, but as long as they are consistent that is all you can ask, and they called them on both teams. Camels had their chances at the line and couldn't put it away. Code should not get the blame here. He looks as though he will turn this program into a region contender every season. Look for these two to meet again in future years to come.
