Yep, I know that there is much to be done before those teams are decided, but let's hear what you think. I'll give my take:
1. Ashland (17-4) Tomcats are 11-0 within the region. Anyone with a brain has to say that they're the favorites. They have a tough stretch starting tonight hosting Elliott Co. and some kid named Knipp. Then Mason, Rowan and West remaining.
2. Rowan (14-4) 9-1 in the region. Maybe the Vikings are starting to hit their stride. Hung tough with a questionable ending to lose to GRC. Beat Mason. Thacker says his defense never takes a night off, we'll see.
3. West Carter (14-5) 13-4 in the region, and frankly play as hard as anyone I've seen within our region. Coach Webb does a good job with this group, Rayburn is healthy, Brown is a deep threat. Wouldn't count them out by any stretch.
4. Elliott (10-6) 7-2 in the region, if Ison can keep the ATV upright the rest of the way, he and Knipp are enough to take anyone out along the way.
What say you?
Two horse race. Rowan and Ashland.

Already blaming the gym and the refs. Just play the game and then be happy, or blame someone or something else after the game. Sometimes the players actually have a say so in who wins or loses.
They don't even realize GRC gets same refs for home games as Lexington Catholic does. 10th and 11th are same people.

LCA has SC's #. Who was the one official that isn't a CKY regular?
-
Make sure you turn your volume up and listen to the buzzer...... You will notice the Rowan kid was fouled well before the buzzer sounds
So what you're saying is with 0:00.5 on the clock you can shoot, get it blocked, then get fouled? And remember, with 0:00.3 on the clock you cannot get a shot off by rule.
-
Game is on wazoo right now if anyone wants to see the final play.
-
The same way you get fouled with 10 seconds on the clock????
That made no sense. How about this then, how can you have a foul after the buzzer?
-
In case noone noticed, the officiating crew for the Rowan-GRC game was VERY young, one of the refs I know has not done many if any games until now. Like it or not the refs are part of the game and calls and no calls can go either way. Teams cannot complain about what happens in the last seconds of a game, you have a whole game to win it or lose it!
How can you have a foul on a play that starts at .5 unless a player is being held as he shoots?

Royals have an interesting matchup Friday.
-
Well hopefully the 10th can draw the 16th tomorrow, both these teams win their region, then neutral officials and a neutral floor can help us all decide the better team.
-
From the RC side of things, they also played a game on Monday night, so they had two games in 24 hours. I understand Robbie was under the weather, but that does not take away from the RC effort. Most people in the gym agreed that Egan was fouled on the last shot and it was off in time. The coach and team understands the game was at GRC and usually not going to get that call. Wazoo reported it as a foul, good comentary on a no call. Congrats to RC, keep up the hard work.
How can you have a foul after the clock goes to 0.00?
-
This is huge for seeding as now Scott is 2-0 in its district with Silver Grove and Bishop Brossart left on the schedule. Scott will take care of business with Silver Grove so all that leaves is to make sure they come away with a win @Brossart but that will be no easy task.
Didn't Scott already beat Brossart?

Rowan Co.s matchup 2/3 zone pushed Clark out in the floor where they were not comfortable in running their offense. Robbie Stenzil sick & not able to play did not help Clark's offense. He has the range to consistent hit his 3 pt. shots from there. Rowan Co. played very hard in this game and in my opinion desreved the call on the 3 pt. attempt at the end. But I only seen it on tv but I also watched the replay twice.
Looked like a clean block up top. Not sure with .5 you can say he even got that shot off, much less argue a foul happened within .5.

8th region guys are pretty solid, if Im not mistaken they call most of the state tourney finals! I know at least 6-8 guys that call college basektball.
Probably also because the 8th region is usually eliminated before Saturday.
-
I've heard the official call "two hands" as well.
Probably because the NCAA put this in a few years ago as an absolute foul. If they work NCAA it is probably why you saw it.
-
Is Morrow suspended?
-
Very nice. Can't wait for the region to return.
-
Ref Lennox was a very big disappointment here!!!
Seemed like Mason got a lot of calls in 4th from him. Obviously he had the charge on Gilbert but that was easy.
-
Just a bit of information for everyone. The officials in Lexington are the same that work for GRC. BBA covers 10th and 11th regions.
-
Sorry I did not see the ref make that call yesterday at the game. That 4.9 seconds seemed like an eternity!!!
Maybe that is why Tom Eades is in the SEC and not working high school?
-
Sweep the leg.
-
I seriously doubt an official is going to tell a player with 2 minutes left he missed that one. I have no clue what Lennox said, but Rogers definitely shook his head in agreement.
-
May be a little off topic, but the officiating in tonight's 10th Region final was pretty decent. Every crew is going to miss a call or two, but nothing tonight that affected the outcome of a 2-point game.
Seemed more like a college game and I liked it. Very young crew for a final, was surprised to see all three together but thought they handled themselves very well.

I can't believe we have gone 4 pages with no mention of Clark Co. fouling on purpose in a tie game with one minute to play?
-
I thought this was one of the pivotal plays of the game. There looks to be a jump ball, foul goes against MC player, coach goes livid and out of the time out the Royals had that look that they were not going to be denied.
I have a series of this that I will post later tonight. Looks like it was a horrible call but I really think that it lit a fire under MC.
Pretty sure that is the jump ball play that all of Mason Co. disliked?

Why wasn't time on the clock during the FTs?
