  1. Dixon and Sandlin should be enough if we get better guard play. Clinkenbred (spelling) needs to play more.

Clinkenbeard minutes were limited tonight because of an ongoing back problem (but I agree she doesn't usually play enough). No Judy no Taulbee and limited minutes from Clinkenbeard was very hard to overcome. Bottom line NCC is very good and like madman said I don't believe coach Dawn wanted to show everything, but on the same line I don't think coach Miller wanted to show his hand either. If Walton can win next Wednesday and play NCC on Friday - I really don't think NCC will have a problem beating Walton. Probably be close for a while, but in the end NCC will make more plays and less mistakes.

  2. Williamstown 69

    Grant Co. 49

    Williamstown 7 21 21 20 69

    Grant Co. 8 13 13 15 49

    Williamstown (10-11) -- West 11, Harris 5, Rothwell 8, Wilhoit 17, Prokopchak 10, Marksbury 2, Potter 4, Northcutt 12.

    Grant Co. (4-14) -- McClure 8, Stith 8, Kidwell 2, Sullivan 2, Bi. Hearn 1, Br. Hearn 11, Wright 1, Thomason 2, Burke 1, Kitchens 13.

Good win for Williamstown. I think this ensures they will play in the 2/3 game in the district. I also believe this means Grant will play in the 1/4 game.

  3. Sorry, "CC", but they don't need to play them 10 times - it only takes one good/bad night to extend or end a team's season one month from now. It looks as though Jan. 22 was the big day for the little schools to start "woofing" in the 8th, with Owen Co. snatching one in Lawrenceburg from Anderson Co., and Walton-Verona deflating South Oldham's bubble up at W-V.

Big dogs, little dogs, all that junk matters not one iota this year. Whoever is bringing their best game to Warsaw this March - and it IS WIDE OPEN NOW, folks - will be trucking down I-65 to Diddle. Any current prognosticators that might get it right are just lucky guessers, because there will be lots of twists and turns down the remaining road in the next few weeks of hoops. There are now NO FAVORITES - WIDE OPEN!!!

I totally agree - wide open. It should make for an exciting tournament.

  6. You are correct, South should have made the free throws. Dye lost a contact at the begininng of the game and actually put in another persons contact to finish the game .She is a much better free throw shooter but she has to make sure she has an extra pair at all times. All in all it was a good competitive game. I agree that Whitfield had a great game and is a really good offensive and defensive player who has several big D1 schools looking at her.

Just being a Junior she is going to turn a lot of heads in the next couple of years. I know she scored 29 points tonight, but I really enjoyed watching her play on the defensive end - I'm sure the Walton players did not.

  7. Worst refs I have ever seen. They actually let a WV girl take the ball out of bounds and bring it back in and shoot a three at the end. South girls were not defending because the ball was clearly out of bounds. if you think sour grapes look at the film. That ref was someone's uncle

The ref was not someone's uncle, at least not on Walton's team, but you are correct he missed the call the ball was clearly out of bounds. It is a mute point if South converts their free throws at the end.

If you have not had a chance to watch Whitfield play this year - wow what a player. Not just offensively, but the havoc she creates on defense is incredible. Crazy ending with two very questionable intentional foul calls, one on Walton and one on South. I don't think winning or losing this game gives either team an advantage. If they were to meet again it should be a classic. Very impressed with South and especially Whitfield.

  8. I think Walton had a little bit of a let down from the class "A". But, Highlands made some very big plays. The game was back and forth for most of the game. Walton lead by 1 at half and the final score was the largest lead of the game. Schaeffer was a difference maker tonight. She hit some very big shots plus blocked at least two 3 point shots that would of been big if made. Walton did have an open 3 for a tie with about 30 seconds left, and then had to start fouling. Very impressed with Schaeffer and Conner for Highlands.

  9. Can anyone share the details of the game? What a nice win for Williamstown - congrats to the girls and Coach Wilhoit!

Very nice win for Williamstown. Coach Wilhoite does a great job. Williamstown played really solid defense all night and Chelsea West was very aggressive on offense making some big shots. Game had a lot of fouls with Williamstown's Wilhoite and Owen County's Gayheart setting a lot of the 1st half. Everytime Owen mada a run Williamstown answered.
