Unless the Donovan Bulls go on a playoff run, their season will be done in about 10 days.
I don't think UK waits even that long. Plus I'm not sold that he's the answer. Could be, but I just don't think UK is a job he has interest in.

My list goes:
Dan Hurley
Jay Wright
Brad Stevens
Billy Donovan
Buzz Williams
Beyond that, I'll know it's an absolute step down unless something shocks me.
Dan Hurley, absolutely!
Jay Wright, got to make him say no.
Brad Stevens would be awesome, but he's got a cushy front office job. I don't think he'd consider it.
Are we willing to wait 3 or 4 weeks to see if Billy is interested.
Why Buzz? He has averaged 12 losses per year at A&M and has 1 NCAA victory while there.

Why not? I’ve seen stories he is not that happy in Chicago or they with him.
who do you think is walking through that door?
Donovan has had two chances at this job and has never hinted that he was interested either time. With his name on the Florida Court, I just don't think UK will ever be an option for him.
UK fans would lose their minds if Mitch waited a month to try to hire Donovan, after the NBA season.

It will be interesting who, if any of these assistants he hires at Arkansas.

I'm guessing something between 7/8 to 9/6.
I think he'll be north of 10 million with about 4 to 5 million for recruiting.

I don't think Wright will come out of retirement, but I do really like him.

Why Scott Drew? I have heard people mention his name a lot. I’m just not sure how he fits what people say they want. In the last 7 years he has made it past the second round only once. Now that one year he did make it past the second round they won the title. However, that standard wouldn’t go well here.
I may have pulled that trigger too quickly. I know for a couple of years he's been a hot name, but like Shaka Smart he's only had one great postseason run.
I'll scratch Drew, I'd didn't think it through.

I’m going with Billy Donovan in about two weeks when the Bulls lose out in the playin tournament.
Billy Donovan isn't walking through that door.

They all should. Players come to Kentucky for the name on the front. Or so I’ve heard.
That's not the world we live in now.

Hopefully Barnhart is on the phone tonight setting up interviews over the next two or three days.
Absolutely need a coach named this week. New coach will have 10 spots or more needing to be filled ASAP.
-
Do ANY of the players stay now? My guess is maybe a couple stay.
Cal taking recruits with him?
I expect all but Travis Perry to reopen their recruitment.

Order of calls if I'm the AD.
Jay Wright, got to swing for the fences at least once.
Drew at Baylor
Then...maybe Oats at Bama

Started a thread just for the coaching search.

Thought the coaching search needed a fresh thread.

I hate to see it. I'm not excusing anything but I guess I look at things differently and Cal has been a huge Net Gain for the program over his time here.

Lot of talk it’s happening. If it does, UK needs to be ready to go get Oats.
I'm not sure he'd come at this point.

He clearly states in a follow up that this is just a rumor that he's hearing and he's not reporting as fact.

Lot of Twitter activity tonight on Cal and Arkansas…
There is a lot more money in NW Arkansas than in Kentucky. Arkansas is one of a handful of schools that could give Cal a pay raise.

Rebounds were 57-31 in favor of SC.
That size advantage was the story of the game.

SC dominating on the boards this half and playing much more deliberate. Iowa going to need to get hot to have a chance.

SC starts quarter with a quick 7-0 run to tie it up and Iowa answers with a quick 3.
Great game so far!

One thing it does for Cal is it gives him a clean slate as far as his staff goes. Drew Franklin has been vocal the last few weeks about how lazy some of that staff is and they are basically stealing money getting paid for doing nothing. Cal has always been very loyal to his friends and has several on his current staff. He's not firing them but that doesn't mean he has to rehire them either. It will be interesting to see if Bruiser and Chin move on with him.
