I did work a couple of games this past year.

His morals didn't stop from allowing it in the suites for the big donors of the program. Just the common fans.

So it was best for you, for them to sell alcohol.

Maybe allowing in the the suites was a test run before going stadium wide.

Either way, he relented and allowed it...even if it wasn't as fast as you'd have preferred.

    Yes.

Shows that Barnhart cared more about his personal morals/values than doing what is best for the athletic program.

The amount of money made from alcohol either way isn't a game changer for UK athletics. There are worse things than having an AD with morals.

Do you work UK games too, or just Reds/Bengals?

  3. Over the last 9 seasons UK has gone 220 and 85 with 10 total NCAA wins in that span.

That gives an average season of 24.4 wins and 9.4 losses with an average of 1 tournament win per year.

I'm assuming Mark Pope will be the coach, we don't know the schedule or a single player that will be on the roster.

So let's make fools of ourselves and vote in the poll how many total wins you expect this coming season.

I want to say don't let the door hit you, but he has done a lot of good for UK.

However, I will never get past limiting beer sales the first year after the SEC allowed it, because of his personal values.

That's what you can't get past? That it took an extra year for beer sales...really?

    SMH!

  5. Clearest signal yet that Barhart isn't long for Lexington. I already thought he might retire before having to deal with possibly firing Cal. Now if he hires Pope, it will be up to next AD to fire him or give him an extension in a few years. Barnhart will be long retired from UK by then.

  6. The US General in command of CENTCOM (The US Military Command over the Middle East) is in Israel discussing US aid in defending Israel from pending Iranian attacks.

It is widely accepted that if Israel is ever attack via missiles, drones or aircraft directly from Iran, that they would strike back in kind. Reports are that the General is also discussing how the US could participate in these strikes.

Iran is expected to strike any time in retaliation for some of their soldiers being killed in strikes by Israel in Syria. Those strikes were in retaliation for drone/missile strikes coming out of Syria.

This is the kind of thing that can spin out of control quickly.

I understand. Lifelong UK fan but I root for other schools too. When UL offered my kids full ride scholarships  and UK was the worst offer out of ten, I became a UL fan.

I was at an event with the President of UK and told him about the offers and UK being the worst. I don't think he liked that story.

If my grandson ended up at Louisville I'd be all in...for four years. Short of that, they are on my permanent no-fly list.

At the dollar amounts we are talking, it is greed. If someone can't create generational security out of $5 million, they are greedy. They grieve for the bigger house, fancier car, etc.

I guess we will agree to disagree.

I honestly would become more of a UL fan than UK fan if they hire Pearl.

There are a few coaches that I 100% don't want. That said, they could hire Christian Laettner and I wouldn't root for another school...let alone a rival.

If I were Hurley, you could offer me $30 million a year and I would stay at U Conn.

    1. How much money do you need to be happy?

    2. He can three peat next year and become historic at a different level.

But that is me and I consider greed the most ominous vice/sin there is.

That kind of money isn't always about greed, it's about generational security for your family. Not saying I think he takes it, but money isn't always about greed.

  11. Couple of things from last night that made me pessimistic this morning.

    1. Kids are in high school and have grown up in Waco.

    2. Drew's currently in the middle of building custom dream home.

    3. Wife was kinda freaked out by TV stations waiting at airport yesterday and the flight being diverted to another airport to avoid them. Does not crave attention at all.

Kinda felt like this was coming this morning. Last night I thought he'd take it. But this morning vibes coming out of Waco were pretty confident he was staying.

  13. Hopefully Caitlin inspires a Steph Effect in women's basketball. I'll bet there are hundreds or maybe thousands of girls this summer trying to put up 1,000 shots a day just like Caitlin does. I think we'll see more girls playing in her style coming into the college game over the next few years.

    That will be her legacy.

  14. Matt Jones did a Twitter live broadcast a few minutes ago. He said basically the job is Drew's and that has said he and his family will discuss tonight.

Hurley hasn't said NO yet, which is kinda puzzling to most. Could be drawing it out to get a raise at UConn. That said, their championship parade isn't until Friday or Saturday and there is no way he'd say yes even if he was going to before the parade.

If Drew and Hurley both decline, it's expected they'll wait until next week on Donovan but would be expected to pull the trigger quickly on next offer if Donovan says no. If Donovan is a hard no, I'd expect he'll tell them before next week so UK could proceed.

After all that I think it's Drew and we'll know tomorrow.

  15. Diana Taursi's dislike of Clark is borderline psychotic. Asked who she'd draft with first pick, without hesitation named the star from UConn. Taurasi has also said Clark won't do anything when she faces full grown women in the WNBA, they'll shut her down.

OK, gotcha now. It's not about the NCAA violations. Your opposition to Miller is about the coaching record. I thought you were anti Miller because of the NCAA violations.

That's part of not wanting him or Rick for sure.

  17. 6 hours ago, Voice of Reason said:

I assume that means you are a no on Rick Pitino also?

    Yes.

The difference would be that Miller had been at Arizona for years and had program fully built when he had these failures. Pitino was in rebuilding mode with his last two programs when he has failures. To be clear I don't want Pitino either, but they were in vastly different circumstances.

  18. How does Sean Miller even get in this conversation?

Last 5 years NCAA record while at Arizona he missed last 2 tournaments that were played.  Had 2 first round losses and won two games the other year.

As far as, he was just doing what's legal now. That's a crazy argument, he still willingly broke the rules in place at the time.

Please No Sean Miller at UK!!!

Putting up nice numbers.  Not enough to drag San Antonio out of the depths like maybe a generational center (Kareem, Shaq) may have done, but he’s justifying the #1 pick.

To be fair Kareem and Shaq weren't 19 when they came in the league either. Both entered the league much more physically mature.
