Absolutely no shot the Lakers sign Bronny, so if that's what LeBron wants, he's likely done in LA.

I wouldn't think so either, then I saw this.

    https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/lakers-open-to-drafting-bronny-james-with-lebrons-future-in-la-uncertain-per-report/

The Athletic reports that the Lakers are "open to the prospect" of drafting Bronny, fulfilling LeBron's widely talked about dream of playing alongside his son in the NBA.

Is this story put out by the Lakers just to placate LeBron for the time being while they figure out what they want to do. Or is there a real possibility that they draft him?

  2. He ain't getting any younger and I don't see the Lakers picking up Bronny to make him happy enough to stay around another year. LeBron has a player option for next season that he could opt out of if he wanted to move.

I've read a compelling article outlining that Dallas could be the perfect place for him if he wanted to chase another ring. I'm sure there are a few spots that even a 40 year old LeBron could help get over the hump for a title. Biggest question is, would he be willing to play for the veterans minimum to make a move possible.

I guess my question or questions are, was this his last game as a Laker and will he be teammates with Bronny someplace next season?

  3. Only 3 of Cals signed Class of 24 recruits will be following him to Arkansas now that Cyrill chose UGA/NBA and Quaintance chose Arizona state. So far only Big Z has followed from last years UK roster.

On the up side for Cal that gives him more flexibility in the portal to get some older players.

A couple weeks earlier I had thrown multiple interceptions in our game against Wayne County. That loss was my fault.

Wayne County had a good, young running back. His name was James Fletcher!

I might have heard of that Fletcher guy! 😆

Those were some great years for high school football in this area.

  5. Cats added Guard Lamont Butler San Diego St. He was defensive player of the year in the conference last year. He hit game winning shot in the final four two years ago to send his team to title game.

They also added Otega Oweh Guard from Oklahoma. Known for physical play and ability to get to the rim. Was the number two scorer for Oklahoma last season.

I'm entertained by the fact that when the impact of concussions and CTE were first really coming to light, the NFL bans having any additional helmets other than those properly fitted to a player at the beginning of the season, openly saying that it's in interest of protecting players heads/brains.

Then the marketability of alternate uniforms is realized. The NFL can make hundreds of millions based on having alternate uniforms, the ticket sales and viewership that drives up to see them, the additional advertising sales money that's made, and the additional clothing sales that happen. So they capitulate and allow for an alternate second helmet. And now here they are allowing for a THIRD alternate helmet.

It's not like the players can't or won't be properly fitted for the new helmets just as they are for the main helmet.

  7. Eliminating the hip drop tackle will be a mess in my opinion. It will probably rarely be clear cut and easy to call. That said, I expect it to be called a lot.

I'm not sure what a smaller player is to do if he wraps up a ball carrier around the waist without using his body weight to pull him down.

I also can see this frequently being called on sacks. Many times the QB is brought down by a defender with one arm wrapped around his waist and just pulling him to the ground. If he has QB wrapped and is off balance and going down I could easily see Ref flagging for a hip drop.

I keep hearing Matt Jones call Pope “Barnhart’s third choice”, as if that is a pretty good thing.

I’m assuming that Mitch at the very least made Hurley and Wright say no, and possibly (but not certainly) Donovan.  Drew was on the short list. What am I missing)

There were a handful of coaches that the UK Admin ruled out before Barnhart started the process, Pearl, Beard and a couple others.

Oates and Wright pulled themselves out of any conversation before it even started. Hurley turned down a Brinks truck of money and Drew and family didn't want move. Donovan was going to wait at least a week plus to even speak to UK with no guarantee that he'd take the job. After being turned down twice before by Billy D, I think his name was just floated to placate a segment of the fans that were hung up on him. I don't think Donovan was on top of Mitch's list, just on top of fan's list.

Pope was the next rung of coaches they considered and chose him over the others. Pope was officially the third person actually offered or pitched the job.

Could have been an all time Kentucky legend.  Instead he will be remembered as a good player.  I feel a little betrayed in that he definitely leaned into the "front of the jersey" player.  Down the road his dad will be more remembered.  He at least won something.

Betrayed, how? What do you think he owed you or anyone?

Jeff was one of my favorites at UK, but most fans under 30 weren't even aware that there was a Jeff Sheppard that played at Kentucky until Reed showed up. While us older guys know and appreciate what Jeff did, Reed will remembered fondly by the younger generations of fans.

Orlando Antigua has now decided to not go with Cal to Arkansas and has taken an assistant’s job at Illinois.

With Bruiser, Chin, Chuck Martin, Brad and now Kenny...there was no room for Antigua at Arkansas. Maybe if he wanted to go Arkansas, Cal wouldn't have taken Chin or Chuck.

    Kenny Payne was a plant.

Might be why Antiga didn't resign and hung around working, Cal left him behind hoping to have a plant in the UK program. 🤔

Pope must have seen through it and now he's gone to Illinois.
