  1. I just want to give a shout out to Alabama Larry and his family for hosting me so graciously on the Male side tonight! It was truly a pleasure to spend time with Alabama Larry & his wife and Punter....that's his son. :D A wonderful pleasure to finally meet you, AL! Thank you!

I tried to find Alabama. You must have been sitting on your bama cushion. Maybe I will catch up with you in the playoffs!

The game went pretty much the way I thought it would. I was very surprised to see how one dimensional Male's offense was. I guess they are limited because of the youth on this years team. Male will be back! We need them for Kentucky football.

    GO ROCKS! #21

  2. Did anyone notice multiple (maybe 5) T players jog off to the lockeroom at various parts of the 1st half? Was that an equipment issue??

I thought Male's QB 17 was a pretty solid all around player. He impressed me. What year is he?

No knee pads in pants! Lineman have to have knee pads. Receivers are the only position which don't require knee pads.

  3. Can somebody who attended the JV game give us a game report?

Can somebody who attended the JV game give us a game report?

Trinity JV wins 42-21. It was a slow start for the ROCKS! Sophomore QB, Reggie Bonnafon went out early in the second quarter when he was hit throwing the football. He went to the hospital... not sure what the injury was. The Rocks went to Blake Boughey at QB and he did a fine job running the offense. He then got hurt went he was hit throwing the ball and had to leave the game. With no QB's left the Rocks went to running back,Thaddeus Kazunas for a couple series.Thad had a great 65 yard TD run up the middle untouched on a QB draw play when it was 3rd and 16. Trinity receiver#85 Alex Graehler made some highlight catches and freshman running back Donald Brooks had some spectacular runs.

Males running backs ran hard and the punter had a great leg! The game had hard hitting from both teams.

  4. We had no answer. Their line played very well. We knew going in we had to play very well up front to win. Congrats to the Tigers, but our Freshman did win in case anyone missed it. And JVs Male, lost 16-12 in a very close game. And those games were very well played by all four teams.

The future looks bright for the Bulldogs! Keep working hard!

  5. ROCKTOPPER, show some class, my son who is a Freshman player at Male reads this site with his Mom also. Running clock you ask? if Male scores over 50 it might start. The game is about kids and I love all kinds of football and have over the years had some battles with the Rock/X fans, but I have great respect for fans who win and repsect the teams they play against. As the respect I have for my fellow BGPs Rock/X posters, you will learn this to in time.

Now, If I have said something on here for you to bring up the RUNNING CLOCK against my Son's school, then take your shot, I'm a big boy and don't mind some gentle jabs. Have a great time and enjoy the games all week JVs/Freshmen too.

Ease up Alabama! I know most posters MO on BGP. I just don't post a lot. I do read and laugh at how misinformed people are concerning the many issues Kentucky football. I can read into your sarcasm most of the time! FYI! I have two sons who played multiple sports at the ROCK. Oldest played football and owns quitea few championship rings. All I'm saying is it will be a running clock on Friday. No disrespect to your bulldogs... they are just a very young team taking a few lumps. They will get better. It's just that your Bulldogs will be facing a monster on Friday that requires me to say running clock. I know you and I would get along very well... I too, am a roll-tide fan! Enjoy your years with your son while he plays the great game of football.

  6. What a beat down! Thanks for the bulletin board material Manual coach! I could go on and on about the separation of talent and coaching between Manual and Trinity... but I will leave that one alone.

What stood out most to me was the pathetic Manual student section and lack of control by it's faculty!!! Were they even cheering for there team and did they even know what the score was at any point of the game. I'm sure... and will guarantee we will hear the same chants at Male next week from there student section.

I must say it was nice playing Elder, Cinn. X, Brentwood Academy, MBA and Indy Cathedral and hearing there student sections cheering for there school and not berating the opposing team!! Hey Alabama!! When do you think the running clock will start next week. Just venting... sorry!!

  7. I would take Mattingly any day over Wright. He is great on his feet and can run the ball when need be. If you ask me, he was definitely the much better QB on the field tonight.

Are you kidding me. Wright is a pure quarterback! Mattingly is a running back trying to be a quarterback. Let's see... Mattingly directs a broken play (1) touchdown in the entire game. Wright directs a 34 point offense (one TD was a 65 yd punt return by special teams stud Ryan White). Once T adjusted in the second half, Mattingly spent a lot of time running for his life. Zero first down until 4 minutes to go in the game. IMHO, I will take Wright over Mattingly any day of the week. I will say... Mattingly played his heart out. FYI! A one dimensional scheme will not beat this ROCK team. You could tell Glaser was struggling knowing he had to throw the ball to keep up. Good win ROCKS!

  8. Kind of interesting to hear the green and white version of the "synopsis". I pretty much agree with the Trinity alum but wanted to clarify some points. The "resentment" toward Coach Beatty may be valid but not sure how much of it is that he is an outsider versus just kicking ST X's butt since he's been here. In fact, I think the backers of Green and Gold respect that Trinity went outside the family to get a great coach and are envious on some levels. But compare that with Trinity's prior coach who came from Indiana and the difference is Coach Beatty has probably the best coaching record in Kentucky history.

As to the share of the talent, no doubt that St X has 3 battles that they are fighting 1) the fight for the talent within the traditional feeder schools of the CSAA. Trinity made a major haul of the 2008 Toy Bowl champion St Patrick with only Karl Roessler going to St X off what some call one of the most dominant teams ever. 2) X has to get their share of the public school kids as Trinity has dominated with special athletes James Quick, Ryan White, and Jason Hatcher, and the Dawkins RB supplementing an already talent-laden team. Clearly, these are special kids with special talents. 3) While Trinity has enjoyed unparalleled success in football, St X has enjoyed a tremendous run in the other sports during the same time frame. I won't touch the subject of the value of a state championship in football versus another sport, what it has caused is tremendous competition within the walls of Tigerville for the athletes and their time. When X won their last football championship in football, they swept the fall sports in soccer, golf, and cross country, along with swimming and tennis and lacrosse and volleyball. Many of the 100 or so freshmen football players turn into college scholarship athletes in other sports. James Quick is a unique athlete because he plays 3 sports- but a Trinity starting linebacker who started on the baseball team as a sophomore quit baseball to focus on football. The opposite happened last year at St X as the starting QB in football quit football to focus on baseball. I would believe that would never happen at Trinity. Let me comment that I am not saying which way is "better", its just different.

As to the fake field goal, its about 100-0 Trinity since the fake, I hope you guys forget about that soon.....

Well said JimmyRef! But it's the tipping of the hat that we remember the most! Just sayin!

  9. Beautiful night for football! Great brats!!! The game was mixed with a lot of blown coverages by both teams. Bonafon, T's sophomore QB stood out the most. X's #9 also looked good. T's creative offense was the difference maker. Congrats Rocks for remaining undefeated on the JV level... Go Freshman on Thursday and Varsity on Friday. I was a bit surprised by the lack of attendance at this game. 5:30 pm might have something to do with it!

  10. I'll take a shot at it. Before I start I'll admit that I look at it through green and white glasses, not green and yellow glasses.

First, Coach Beatty was brought in from Kansas City to be the Trinity coach. There has been an undercurrent from many on the X side that bringing in an "outsider" was somehow wrong. Coach Beatty won right from start. That created some resentment. Second, in 2005, 2007 and 2008, I think that Coach Glaser honestly felt that he had the better team only to see Trinity take the title. Coach Glaser was never shy about letting people know that he thought the better team lost those games. When X had a regular season sweep, Coach Glaser saw fit to rub it in with a broom. That created a lot of resentment on the Trinity side. He also saw fit to downplay the rain shortened Trinity win in 2006 as somehow no legitimate (see the umbrella). In 2009 when X had the better team, Coach Glaser chose to run a fake field goal for a touchdown late in a game where they had a big lead. Then he chose to rub it in by tipping his hat to the Trinity side after the touchdown. That has not been forgotten. Finally, after the success Trinity has had over the past few years, Trinity is attracting a much larger share of the talent. That is causing a lot of resentment from the X side. There is some bad blood. That said, X is a fine school. They will be back. I have only seen them play once, but I saw a team that will fight to the end. I expect a Trinity win, but I expect a tight game. My guess is that there is a twenty percent chance of an X win. A sixty percent chance of a Trinity win in a close game and a twenty percent chance of a big Trinity win.

This is very accurate as much as it hurts the X supporters to hear. I could add much more, but let's leave it with this.

on to the game... I think Trinity is much more talented at all facets of the game... especially coaching schemes. The term, “speed kills” will be the most telling story in this game.

I have seen it first hand for 5 games against very good competition and it is a glaring disparity. Teams just can't prepare for this in practice or watching film.

Now, with that said, X could possibly win this game. They have great high school kids and are very well coached. If the Rocks turn the ball over and make numerous mistakes on both sides of the ball and Mattingley rushes for 125 and passes for 200; and Walker rushes for 100+. I just don't see that happening against the Rocks defense... It's a great rival game! Rocks 31-14.

  11. Great win for the ROCKS! Cathedral came in with a great game plan. Well coached!! Our timing was off a bit in the first half. We made some great adjustments at halftime and took care of business. Football has four quarters! Up to this point, Trinity's defense has shut down five very good football teams. Only giving up one offensive TD to the Irish is very impressive. What a great environment last night!! Well... it's on to our Kentucky portion of the schedule. Pride week starts on Monday. I look forward to playing the Tigers at the Pizza Palace on Friday. GO ROCKS! #21

  12. Great win for the ROCKS! The Bombers defense was well balanced with speed and size. When you have two coaching staffs like this you expect a chess match. Trinity did a great job stopping the run and X seemed to be very uncomfortable throwing the ball. Trinity left some scoring opportunities on the table, but overall did a good job on the road, against a great team. Trinity did what they were suppose to do... control the ball, and win by two scores. Beatty's offensive system gets better as the season progresses. By playoff time they will be a well oiled green machine. FYI! X's student section is off the charts!! I loved it! Are group had a great time with the X fans before and after the game. Lots of class on that campus. Cathedral will be a different challenge with there passing attack. Our kids will be ready! Can't wait for Friday night. Will be another great crowd for a great high school football game. GO ROCKS! #21

  13. Here is my two cents! We at Trinity have faced these chants for years in all the highly student attended sports from the publics here in Louisville (Ballard, Eastern, Male, Manual and Seneca), just to name a few. I don't like it... but if the school admins allow it, it will always continue.

Believe me... I could go on about this type of behavior, but it seems to be like beating a dead horse. Let's play football!!!

I must say it has been a breathe of fresh air to replace some of those teams with class programs and fans like Tenn. Brentwood Academy, Tenn. Montgomery Bell Academy, Cinn. Elder, Cinn St. X, Indianapolis Cathederal, and Cinn. Moeller.

  14. How do you not prepare for the team you are playing! I'm sure Elder prepared for this game. They have good personal and coaching. When you have a top 10 nationally ranked team coming into your house... you prepare!! I think what happened is Elder was not prepared for the actual speed the Rocks put on the field at so many positions. You can't simulate that in practice. IMO! I thought we would win, but by maybe two touchdowns.

Lastly, I just want to say that the Elder fans I talked to were flat out the nicest people to hang out with. Also, the student section was off the charts. You could really feel the rich and proud tradition of the panther fans. Just a great stadium for football. I'm glad I was there to witness this one.

Way to go ROCKS! I loved the all white uni's. That was a first in Trinity's history. Can't wait to make the trip to Cinn St. X...

    GO ROCKS! #21!
