  1. Totally agree with Mtn. Thunder, no way Clay is scoring 40 against the Jags D. Also agree with the monster, hope the Jag offense come out firing and ready to go. Jags need & WANT this win. Go Jags!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
  2. I thought this forum was for fans, parents, alumni, etc. to give their opinions and thoughts on their team and discussion of these opinions. My intent was never to fight with anyone or to seem I am picking on one individual. I am NL alum with a vested interest in the team and I have just called things the way I've seen them. However, I will not be doing so in the future, I'll continue to pull for the Jags (including Adrian) and keep my opinions to myself. Good luck Jags on the rest of the season, wish you ALL the best!!!!!!!
  3. Tyler has bruised ribs and sternum, Trevor cannot get an xray until the swelling goes down.
  4. Well let's see, I graduated from NL 5 years ago and my daughter has yet to put on her first pair of cleats. I'm not a disgruntled parent just a fan who wants my team to win, or at least not beat themselves which they have done 2 weeks in a row.
  5. SL's first score was from an interception. I never said this loss was Wardup's fault, you are right it was a team loss. I am not going to set here and list every thing I saw that was wrong, that's ridiculous. I am also not going to argue with you over something you are obviously not viewing with an open and objective point of view.
  6. How many were actually catchable? I have no axe to grind with the kid, he's talented tons, but every game he has 3 or 4 costly turnovers and nothing is ever said about that, it's blamed on his receivers or his center or the O line. If he is going to be QB then he needs to step up lead his team and take the blame when it's his. I also think the coaches need to quit blaming everyone but him, let him know when he messes up. I know he's a sixteen year old kid so are alot of the other players on that team. He's a sophomore, starting his 2nd year at varsity QB with the same plays from a year ago and yet there's not much if any improvement just more turnovers. He doesn't get disciplined from the coaches like a learning and maturing player/QB needs. They don't need to be telling him it's Ok and blaming everyone else they need to be helping him to grow so he can be an asset to this team in its entirety.
  7. I'm not sure if it was that South's defense stepped up or North's offense didn't bother to show up. NL had way too many turnovers, again, and the play calling was extremely repetitive. I'm truly confused about the Wardrup hype after the last 2 weeks. He is athletic and he can throw the ball deep but when the opponent is catching more of your QB's passes than you are then it doesn't do you any good. The only thing I can see that's impressive about the kid is when he actually makes a decision to run the ball he has the speed and cutting ability to pick up yards. I don't know what the NL coaching staff is thinking running Ryan Setters up the middle every other play, that was the most ridiculous play calling I've ever seen. The kid is quick and needs to run more sweeps or reverses but he most definitely does not need to be running up the gut as much. I was really looking forward to this season NL has a ton of talent, but it seems that they are going down that all too familiar road to shooting themselves in the foot. Could be a really really long season.
  8. I think what sports monster is trying to say is that this year there is not a Blair, Cessna, Maggard, Smith, Asher, etc. on the team, the go to guy. Most of the parents feel the coaches are trying to make stars out of a couple of kids by promoting them in the media. Let me state I am not saying that. I think the team needs media coverage to draw more attention. As for the running back matter that's going back and forth, the coaches have Setters, Tyree, Brandenburg, Miller, White, all of which have at some point ran the ball and did a great job at it. If you put your big RB's running or blocking for the runner I think that helps out the O line. I am also going to stick with Wardrup at RB, I think the kid could be the one who will be compared to Blair, and could be better IMO.
  9. I would say Wardrup is more likely to burn you with his speed and manueverability than anything else in his arsenal.
  10. IMO the NL staff likes to keep the media thinking there is some big QB competition going on to attract more attention to the program, when in all actuality they haven't "competed" in the true sense of the word, from what I hear, since Jones was injured early last year. I really don't know why they don't try to move them around just to see how it goes, I have my opinions but I'll keep them to myself.
  11. In a round about way that's what I was trying to say! Wardrup is a heck of an athlete. IMHO I feel it would be doing him as well as the ENTIRE team a great justice to let him run the ball, he's an extremely illusive runner. Given that and him not have to worry about or think about who or when to throw the ball, just run, and you've got an unbelievable weapon. And you are right it's up to NL's coaching staff how they use his ability, but if they don't at least try something different I'm afraid the future doesn't look so bright.
  12. I guess you didn't see all the holding HC was getting away with play after play then, because some of the NL fans were upset about the no-calls. And there wouldn't have been a blowout no matter where the game was played. People can down NL all they want, but except for a few things thay need to work on offensively they are a completely different team this year.
  13. Care to comment on what you mean by "Wardrup did a very good job of keeping the offense moving up and down the field doing with what he was given". Sounds to me like you are saying that NL pretty much doesn't have an offense except for Brandenburg and Wardrup.
  14. Don't misunderstand me please. I am not on the Wardrup bandwagon, I'm just saying he has made some improvement. As for your comment about him being the best out of the QB's NL has could you tell me how many times you have saw the other ones play. The Jones kid was very impressive in the scrimmage against Somerset when NL moved the ball extremely well. I've not seen the Fugate kid except for middle school and then he was more of a runner, but a good one. I think NL is making a mistake not using all of their offensive weapons and trying to make a couple of kids stars at the cost of the team. So I am definitely not on ANY bandwagon. I'm just saying Wardrup has tremendous athletic ability and potential if it's used in the right place, which falls back on the offensive coaches. If they don't make the needed adjustments NL's defense has their work cut out for them.
  15. South better have a different game plan than to try and rattle Wardrup. Didn't work last year and won't work this year, too much pride on the line in this game. Wardrup is a stronger kid this year. He got rattled some last year, but if you watched last nights game vs. Holy Cross, he took some major hits and went right back to work. He took one helmet to helmet that could be heard in the parking lot and didn't miss a play. He just needs to work on his accuracy IMO, he has a tremendous arm and they should be using that advantage. I know Cameron Cornett is out for a while, but I've watched a few of their practices and talked to some of the coaches, they DO have other kids who will lay their bodies on the line to catch the ball. I know Wardrup is a good QB, but, once again, IMO I think he could break some records gaining yardage playing at the half back position, his ability to read the holes when he's running the ball is his strongest attribute. Ricky Bowling picked apart Valley's defense last night, I don't think he'll have that to look forward to when they enter the Jungle. NL 36 SL 21
  16. Totally agree with every word you said. NL's offense doesn't look so good. I have not agreed with NL's play calling for the past few years, everything is way too predictable!!! There is a lot of talent on this team, from the frosh to the seniors, regardless of what some people may say or think. Missing as many scoring opportunities as NL missed won't win them too many games. If not for their defense last night the score would have been 13 -- 0(safety, Josh Miller & interception, Ryan Brandenburg that he ran back forever to get them in scoring position) I think Josh Miller and Shawn Nelson looked absolutely awesome on defense, along with Brandenburg of course, along with the whole defensive unit, they played very well. I am also excited about the rest of the season, just hope they fix the offensive glitches and the defense keeps laying the lumber to their opponents.
  17. Ryan Brandenburg -- North Laurel Ricky Bowling -- South Laurel Zach Lewis -- Clay Co.
  18. Out of what I've seen of the NL and Clay QB's, they are both good players. However, Wardrup from NL will be a sophomore. I think he has an awesome arm but may need some work on decision making. I saw NL using 2 or 3 different kids at the QB position during some 7 on 7 events I attended. Those guys looked pretty good.
  19. For North Laurel, I think the addition of a few new faces to the coaching staff will help the Jags tremendously. I feel there may be some changes in a key position or two that alot of people may not expect, after watching the Jags in these scrimmages.
  20. I agree, there was some good competition. I was really impressed & suprised at how well South Laurel did. Corbin, SL, and Somerset really did well, I didn't get to see a whole lot with Bell, so can't comment on them. NL looked pretty good, but were missing a few key players. I saw Ryan Brandenburg with a wrapped up shoulder, don't know what happened, but he did not participate.
  21. I got to see the latter part of the competition, and Somerset looked pretty good to me. They're passing was on as well as the defense.
  22. Did anyone get a chance to see the teams at Tuesday's passing scrimmages? I think the Jags are also hosting another on Thursday, heard there will be 5 or 6 teams there.
  23. There is quite a bit of interest in North Laurel football. I think the fans are there and have been there, they're just waiting for something to cheer about. I cheer this team on, win or lose, but alot of fans aren't like that. I know the Wardrup kid is talented and could possibly be great. What I don't understand is why fans should get excited about the turnovers the NL offense has had the last few seasons. I know Wardrup is young, but a team can't survive on those turnover numbers.
  24. I am a North fan. Didn't get to attend the blue/white scrimmage, but heard some good things about it. Heard that Ryan Brandenburg and Steven White were pretty dominate on defense. Also heard while Wardrup did not play, Justin Jones stepped up at the qb position and did some pretty good things. Heard he was impressive running the ball and making good decisions, and can take some pretty nasty hits. I think with a few changes, that I won't disclose, the Jags could be a team to watch out for in 2007.
