  1. I was at a game tonight (girls game, but no ones talking over there). There was a group of young men ( football team ) stationed just behind the opposing team. As the game went on the young men grew worse and worse. At one point the boys were bent over the girls yelling, screaming, mocking their coach in their huddle, within touching distance. The Principal and Assistant Principle were there, along with the AD of the school. They just watched. It grew so bad, the coach had his subs bring the chairs out on the floor just so he could huddle with his team. The boys were cursing loudly, showing how old they were on their hands and more by the end of the game. Is this acceptable? I know the school I attended and my kids attend would never have allowed this to occur at our gym without the kids being dispersed or thrown out. A certain amount of this is supporting your team, but this was really ugly. If my son was doing that, I would have drug him out of the gym by his ear. I know several fathers of the girls were getting pretty irate toward the end. How much do you think is too much? Just interested in opinions on this.

Thats rediculous and obviously poor leadership from the administrators. Totally unacceptable.

  2. Is Dayton modern day suburbia?

Let's see, "there was nowhere else to go but to win a few games in Dayton." Um, yes there was...Holmes. Experience is the most overrated thing out there. Bottom line, he gets the job done. I can find a bunch of more experienced guys I wouldn't give you a dime for. Holmes got a young energetic, enthusiastic coach that preaches discipline and doing things the right way. Like others have said on here...PERFECT HIRE!!!

Never said Dayton was suburbia. Covington and Dayton are rather different places and schools. I hope it works out for the new coach and holmes but I am just not picturing a ggod outcome. I guess we will see though

  3. From the Ky Post: Jefferson, who spent the first quarter on the bench for a violation of team rules.....

Don't know and don't care what rule Jefferson broke, but who would have thought that a member of the Holmes High School Basketball team, would break a team rule?

    Kentucky Post

That ould have been late for practice or anything minor of that sort, what's the vendetta against the bulldogs oldguy. Every post of yours is rather negative toward Holmes. Whats up wit dat?

  4. I think this game will be like the last one. Nobody will give HC a chance just like nobody gave Holmes a chance, but somehow it will be close at the end. I think the winner of the game will be the only difference. Holmes will pull out a close low scoring game. HC over the last 10 years or so just can't get over the hump against Holmmes or CCH in a close game.

    I agree Latch.:thumb:

  5. I look for The David School to potentially get their first win in school history when it plays the Kentucky School for the Deaf this week. The game should have already been played BUT snow postponed it.

This will be thier last chance to get a win this season and by comparing scores with common teams, this should be a toss-up.

Where is Kentucky School for the Deaf located?

  6. The only coach that i heard applied was Mr.Turner, Lee Turner's Dad. For all you people who dont know Lee. Lee coach at Cov Cath during the 2002 season with Barry Jones and company. I think he went to Scott with the rest of the group to coach. Lee Turner also played at Holmes. From what i understand it would be a good hire for Holmes

Ken Turner coached at Holes in the mid 90's and had very successful teams.

  7. Withrow is FAR from a top program in Cincinnati. The top programs are the GCL schools and the MVC schools. The FAVC has a few good teams here and there but CPS (which Taft is also a part of) football is nothing near comparable to what is in Cincinnati. There are few teams outside of the CPS that are afraid or even intimidated by Withrow.

Good coaches will not stay in those schools for long. Mike Martin will likely stay at Taft, but do expect Doc Gamble to be gone in two years (If not this coming year.)

Withrow would be many if not all NKY schools in most years. This year alone thy had 4 guys go bigtime D1

  8. This is a bad comment, being part of the football pogram I see alot that goes on down there. We are Coaches and teaches, not these kids parents. Until the Parents decide to care ad get involved with there kids lives, Holmes will continue to have deal with these issues. Until the 95% percent of the parents don't decide to care, nothing will changes. Coachs can only coach and teach so much,we do not raise them. Holmes would be a forsce to recon with parent involvment in the program and more backing by their community. This is only one of the jobs, because the kids are not held acountable for there actions by their parents, it will be impossible to do it at school. I'm part the PTA at Holmes and I hope to see Holmes become a great place to work and/or coach.

  9. Gee, didn't Cov. Cath. play Highlands earlier only win by three? A team such as Highlands is who Holmes will stuggle with a bit beacuse they do slow down the tempo of the game an they are very physical and big. Seems as though Cov. Cath. didn't exactly blow them out either. So lets not get to excited by the margin of victories wether it be by three or fourteen points. As I've posted before in the Holmes/Newport game summary Holmes has a tendency to playdown to their opponets. They sometimes tend to coast once they get a lead and only play good enough to hang on for the win. Yes this may come back to bite them in the end, but only time will tell and I look forward to seeing this play out hopefully all the way to the ninth region championship and hope it is a Holmes/Cov. Cath. matchup. Might be the best region championship game in the state.

  10. It is a little surprising to me and im sure it's a little surprising to the Bulldog fans. From what I heard from the Bulldog faithful was that NKY should be worried now that Holmes is at full strength. Their last 2 wins havent really been that impressive and they still are struggling with putting up points.

If you win 2-1...you still win. This was not a 30 point blowout but you still win. As we have seen Holmes does not blow people out... Even when they won region 2 years ago At times tonight they looked very good other times it was a slooowww game after seeing tonights game...

Holmes 9th region champs No if's and's or Potentials :ylsuper:

  11. Duran Arrez and Austin all took the loss to Dixie last year pretty hard. I doubt very seriously they're going to let the same thing happen 2 years in a row. Duran is the leader out there that they've been needing this whole season which is goiing to take a lot of pressure off of Hill's shoulders.

But as you said I guess we just have to sit back and find out what happens. But if Holmes is playing in the region title game on their home floor I'm banking on them no matter who they're against.

I want to see Holmes and CovCath in the finals. That would be a fun game.
