  1. I ant claim to know anything other than what I've read and the stats but it does appear that disapline has been a thorn in the TM attack. Ram Attack himself has pointed this out with the special teams and other follies. I think the Birds will have a tough time of it but we all have to remeber that this is Highlands that we are talking about. The winningest team all time in KY and one of the winningest in the nation. A challenge like this is nothing new to the Birds and historically they have done very well. Know reason to think this game will be any different

They may win here but what is the record against Ohio schools???

Not very well, I would imagine.

  2. With KY playing OH in a allstar game ......... Why is there not more games during the year with top teams from each state ???? Like this Scott County,Mason,Cov.Cat,Louisville schools vs the top team around Cinncinnati ( Withrow,Moeller,St. X,Elder)????

When I played at Holmes from 94 to 97 we always played Withrow and Woodward. But never any GCL teams. I know Holy Cross usually plays Elder

  3. I would like to see what Hill could do against Brossart's D. Corey has avg 24 ppg in the 6 times they have played Brossart in the past 2 years.

I keep hearing how well he played against Brossart. I don't hear many other good teams he played against. Ludlow,Deming,St. Pat, Bracken C'mon I would put up 30 against those teams and I just had knee surgery

  4. BD Tech, you are obviously biased or simply don't WANT to believe that Pelle is better than one of your beloved Bulldogs, and I commend your loyalty, but quit making excuses why Pelle should not have gotten that award. It has been repeated many times in this forum why SG played who they did, and that speaks for itself.....conference games, 10th region games, and existing contracts in place. Corey Pelle didn't make the schedule, and shouldn't be criticized for playing it. In addition, the coach likely didn't say "hey, lets make a schedule that Corey can excel at". I've seen ALL PLAYERS in N. KY. and beyound, and yes, COREY PELLE DESERVED THIS HONOR! Congratulations Corey:thumb:

I never said a bulldog should have gotten the award. I said there were other players in NKY that could have put up the same numbers against the competition Pelle played against.

  5. Scott High only gets two representatives after the season they had? How can you take Jimmy Ryan, Alex Hall,Jordan Griffin, Luke Mace or Joe Flanigan over Ryne Smith or Danny Miller?[?QUOTE]

Was a whole team put out by the enquirer? Or was they player of the year award the only one given out?

The whole team. I dont think it's on nky.com but it may be. If not just grab a paper.

    Ill help ya

  6. As for SG's schedule I think some people need their eyes opened. You are only allowed to play 23 games (2 tourneys can count for 1 game each), so basically 21 regular season games. SG is bound to 14 conference games in the NKAC (Beechwood, Ludlow, etc.) Also, they must play every team in the district once. They already play Calvary in the NKAC, so that leaves Brossart, Scott and Campbell. So now your are up to 17 games. That leaves St. Pat, Pendleton, Bracken and Deming (all 10th region teams). Many of you don't realize SG only has 79 students in the high school and every team they play is bigger than them and they are bound to 17 games every year. That is why their coach scheduled Moeller, Turpin, Finneytown, Holmes, Boone, Dixie, NewCath, Highlands, Lou. Manuel, etc. over the summer. They competed with all of them. As for Corey, I personally witnessed him have 26 points and 10 assists against the Derek Smith West AAU that included Pettigrew, Beckham, Beaumont, etc.

In addition, they beat a McLean Co. team that would have been in the top 10 in N. KY and played well for 3 quarters against Bowling Green (in which Pelle had 29 thru 3 quarters). The top 8 players had just played 3 weeks earlier vs. CovCath in the football finals-so they were obviously very talented and athletic.

Pelle scored more outside of their small school conference than he did in. I just can't wait to watch him play with guys as talented as he is.

As for Hill, the only he has on Corey is an inch or 2, and 20 pounds. Other than that, Corey is a much better ballhandler, shooter and defender. You may be suprised, but Pelle is more athletic-as he had 20 dunks on the season.

I don't think the summer was taken into consideration. There were many players with many dunks on the season. That does not make you more athletic. Jacobs, Rice, Hill, Hester, Kurd, Kiernan could have put up better #'s than Pelle with that schedule. I don't mean to knock him as a player cause he obviously is but if he played the comp the rest of the above mentioned players have to deal with night in night out those numbers Pelle put up would be rather diminished.

  7. Great job Corey! Pelle wasn't even rated in the top ten in the 10th Region going into the season and was ranked 10th in Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties. This is a great example of how dedicating yourself over the summer pays off! I just can't wait to hear everyone complain that Corey did this against weak competiton. Ask Brossart and Mike Code about Corey. If that isn't enough ask Carl Kremer from Moeller-the Trains played them over the summer and Pelle had around 30. And if that isn't enough, ask Beckham, Pettigrew and the rest of Derek Smith All Stars. I witnessed Pelle have 28 pts and 10 assists against them this summer. The best all around player got this award.

He did do it against a weak schedule.

  8. Alright folks I know it's early, but what do you all think? The 9th region will be hit hard this year with graduation of some great players (Hill, Rice, Jeffersom, Bovard, Jacobs, Lenhoff, bray, Ryan, etc) and I don't think the 9th region will see a team of Holmes caliber of this year for a while but who will be the early favorites and why?

In no particular order here's what I think...

CCH- lose a lot of talent in Bovard and Jacobs, but seem to always reload. Noll and Lampl will both have to develop a ton over the summer if they want to be a serious contender.

Holmes- return key players in Avery, Clark, Nelson, and by the way 9th region tourney MVP, Arrez Henderson along with a talented JV squad led by sophomore to be Dom Johnson who is probably the next big name player to come through Holmes

Ryle- Talented freshman classes the past two years, may surprise a few teams and become a top 5 team by season's end

Highlands- return POY candidate Nic Simpson, and with him in the lineup and a decent supporting cast, Highlands may become a contender as well

Holy Cross- Giwa, Eifert, and Sorrell all 3 return so HC should be competitive.

Boone Co- were somewhat young this year but graduated bray which will hurt them.

IMO the top 3 teams next year will be Holmes, CCH, and Highlands but what do you think? I'm not too familiar with the 08 class.

    Dom will be a junior.

  9. Whats wrong with going to a JC, especially one of top ones in the nation, Its a great place to imporve your game and to imporve your grades (Not saying that Austin needs to improve his grades, but if he does its a great place to go) and D-1 programs always look for Ju-Co talent.

    True, True!! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
