Go Bulldogs!!! Covington is rooting for you!!!
-
Great story, but Holmes has too much depth. There were a few moments of fatigue for the Tigers on Wednesday, and J'town didn't even play good defense. They'll hit a few threes and stay close, but with 4:00 to go in the game Holmes will make their closing run.
Took the words right out of my mouth.

Go dogs! Beat Paintsville.
-
HHS has a new gym coming. FWIW
Where will they put that, due to lack of room on that corner?
-
I might be wrong but what about Celeste Hill, Holmes H.S.?
Good one. How about John Wimzie asst. coach at Holmes. He has done both.
-
This should be a doozy!
What time should one get there to get a seat?
Leave now dude

Henley wo0n in Carlisle Co. and also won at Holmes as coach. That's close.

Bulldogs by 7 in regulation. If Homes hits their 3's they win by 13.

What time and when???

Simon Kenton's welcome to the 8th region has not been a pleasant one for Pioneer fans. They have had good seasons but can't get over the hump when it comes to beating some of the 8th region's traditional powers. I also don't believe a Simon team from the late 90's would have faired much better since at that time in the 8th you had Scott County, Oldham County (with a future NBA player on the roster), and Shelby County to contend with. Each of these three teams were head and shoulders above the rest of the region and were just as good as anyone in the state during that time. It stands to reason that Simon will not have a strong run at the regional title for some years to come. There best shot was last year when Hester and Co. were seniors. The year before they were not not likely to beat Slaughter and Shelby, last year the Colonels and Coach Forrest ended their season and this year they really struggled to play with South. Unfortunate for the Pioneer fans who had to think a move to the 8th would make things somewhat easier to advance to the Sweet 16.
Who is the future NBA player?

He was being sarcastic. Being a Highlands fan he for one is in favor of seeding...correct me if I'm wrong Gryche.
All apologies
-
And that's why "seeding" the district brackets is "unfair"! If CC & Holmes drew each other early in their district, then Highlands has to only beat one of them to win the region!...But they first have to beat Villa Madonna!
please note sarcasm
Seeding is unfair??? How about being in the 35th district. 3 of the top teams in NKY (usually) in the same district. It's almost impossible for Highlands not to make the region. While Holmes, HC, or CovCath will miss out every year.

I agree.
My concern is that the new arena won't be crowded and will almost be too big for the regional tournament. I'd prefer a packed gym at Conner, Ryle or Holmes over a half-full arena at Bank of Kentucky.
I hear that.:thumb:

Hello??? Is anyone gonna tell me when the game is. I don't know.
Sorry wrong thread.

Agreed! It would be great to see Henderson & Sorrell play together, rather than argue who's better. Bought two seats at the new arena with a 3 year commitment for just this reason. Hopefully, McGraw will come on board too.
Good to see they are trying to keep some Nky talent at home.

Chris Hayes was never the same after fracturing a knee cap in football, I believe before his junior year.
Got hurt playing football. He would have easily went bigtime D1 if noy for the injury.

After seeing every team in the top 10, here's my assessment:
1a.) Arrez Henderson- When it comes down to it, this kid is the most complete player in the 9th region. Lockdown defense and anyone who saw the CCH or Highlands game, knows he can single handedly take over a game and turn the game around for his team. While he ONLY averages 17 a game, he is doing this with probably the best supporting cast in NKY, which solitifies the argument of him being the best player. Will be Division 1 player of the year.
1b.) Greg Mcgraw- Man can this kid play. Great defense, definetly up to par with Henderson's, and a prolific scorer. Best shooter I've seen. Complete game, as he can take you inside or shoot the three. Scores pretty much at will. Has battled through injuries all year and still been very impressive. Will be division II player of the year.
3.) Cory Sorrell- While I have only seen him 3 times this year and wasn't too impressed except against CCH, the numbers don't lie. Great scorer and is the focus of every team but needs to work on his defense. Leads nky in average points per game and rebounds which puts him here at #3. Will be division III player of the year.
After these three there could be an argument for a handful of players. Some that come to mind, in no particular order:
Simpson (Highlands)- Can't really put him in the category with the above three because he's been injured all year but when healthy, he's the second best player on HHS team behind Mcgraw.
R. Johnson (Holmes)- Has been a huge addition to Holmes this year and has put up some big numbers as a SOPHOMORE. Offensively he is as good as anyone in the region, (outside of the top 3). Defensively he needs to work a little, but poretty sound for only being a soph. Will most likely be the best player in his class his senior year.
Maile (CCH)- Very physical player and can score down low. Sound defensively and can be the best player on CCH team any given night.
Schmerge (CCH)- Was probably most impressed with him in the times I've seen CCH. Has a nice shot and rebounds well but needs to work on his defense.
Bondick (CCH)- Nice point guard, runs the offense well, but also knows how to score. Catalyst for CCH and wll be key for them in the upcoming postseason.
Mace (Dixie)- Best big man in nky but needs to work on his foul shooting. Can take over a game and does the little things that has helped Dixie be successful this year.
Avery (Holmes)- Probably the best pure point guard in the region. Great at driving and dishing but needs to work on cutting down on the mental mistakes. Holmes offense goes no where without him though.
There are a lot of good players in nky but these stand out the most to me from what I've seen.
Nice post.:thumb: I agree
