Nice Post. Was waiting for someone to say that.
If number of points per game is the main criterium you are strictly going by, regardless of the competition/schedule, and excluding all other factors (shooting percentage, defense, assists, turnovers, rebounds, and intagibles) then I guess he would be top 10.
It is harder for players on the better teams and at bigger schools to average as much because of better competition, more players, better balance, and overall talent on the roster, etc. Of course, the W's are the main things that count, and stats don't win games. I don't think Henderson was in the top 10 in scoring last year, was he?
35 points a game playing a schedule that includes small schools like Calvary Christian and Heritage Academy isn't comparing apples to apples and is not a fair comparison to players at bigger schools who play against better teams and defenders night in and out.

I am revising my Top 10.
1. R. Johnson
2. E. Pittman
3. S. Giwa
4. Housley
5. Kowolonek
6. Andy Earls
7. Mike Gabbard
8. McFarland
9. Mitch Shover
10. Blake Bryan
Honorable Mention
Romes, Buettel, Avery, J.Johnson, C. McDaniel, Eastin.[/QUOT
Giwa in front of Housley, Kowolenek or J.Johnson is a joke.

If is right. I would like to see him play, but from the word around this site is he most likely won't.
-
Colerain...wins by as much as they want.
-
But if Maile is gone, will Shover be the same player? It's a lot easier when you aren't the #1 man on the other teams radar to stop and if Maile is gone, then Shover is that man at CovCath. The question is, can he step up to the challenge?
That would be a huge setback if the Colonels lose Maile.

It's going to be a fun year to watch basketball in Covington. They are going to be very good as everyone knows. Watch out for Jemel Riley also, he can shoot the lights out.
-
Call me a homer, but I will take the guy that has dad his team playing on Saturday at Rupp the pst two years. When was the last time a ninth region coach did that?
-
Rico Johnson???? Holmes Ky Players
Way Off
-
Guess your just marking that down as a win then?
I would :sssh:

What a shame for the program. Did Shannon Minor ever land somewhere? If not, maybe he is up for round two on the river.
Shannon went to Finneytown from Bellevue and now what I hear he is an assistant at Holy Cross.

Kevin Thompson???

I don’t know if you’re old enough to be a parent or not, but if anyone said the things about your child that you’ve said about Dakotah Euton, you wouldn't like it too much.
If you wouldn’t want somebody saying that about your child, why would you say it about someone else’s child… even if he is 6’ 8” and 230 pounds?
As far as predicting that a kid doesn’t have what it takes to play at UK… being negative and predicting NO is the safe bet by such astronomical odds, it’s doesn’t even count as a legitimate prediction.
- There are 4,206,074 people in Kentucky.
- There are 1,001,046 kids under 18 in Kentucky.
- There are about 58,885 kids per grade level in Kentucky.
- 51% are female. 49% are male.
- That means there are 28,854 boys per grade level in Kentucky.
- UK has 16 boys on their roster, with only 3 from Kentucky.
So, on average only about one kid per graduating class earns a shot at playing for the Wildcats…
1 chance in about 30,000.
The real risk is taken by the person willing to say, “I think Euton will earn a scholarship at UK and contribute to the team’s success.”
I’ll take that one-in-30,000 chance.
The number crunching is phenomenal.lol Great post

Reading that article, makes me think the ruling will not be overturned.
Maybe sometimes it's just best to keep your mouth shut.
SC will still be a top 5-10 team in the state but I don't see them winning the title with just Phares and Guyn.
Go Holmes!!!
-
That was not the only reason he moved though. Also, as for Jackson he is from central ky and his mom has worked at Toyota before. Doesn't sound too much different than the Johnson boy's mom moving back to Holmes.
They grew up in Covington and only left for one year. They came back out of necessity not for athletics.
-
Before him I thought there were several teams who could potentially knock them off (NCC, Boone, CCH) but I think he may be the missing piece that was needed to solidify themselves as the top team in the region hands down.
Holmes would easily run through the region without Housley.
-
Oh you make it too easy.....
67, 68, 69, 70, and 71 ... and who cares about 4 out of five, thats five for five for CovCath! :thumb:
67?!?!?! It's been a long time???
-
Of course, they at least had a previous tie to Holmes ... that isn't the case with most of the guys being discussed here.
Very true. They went to middle and grade school in Covington, then moved over the river. This happens rather often in the Covington school districts.

Lots of questions to be answered here. IMO, Euton is over rated, and I'll be surprised if he ever puts on a UK uniform. Not nearlly athletic enough; can't get his own shot and can't guard ANYBODY. Jackson is a supreme athlete; needs to find a jumpshot somewhere. Only saw Guyn a couple of times; his game was similar to Jackson's. There's a reason RH never made it out of the region. And don't say they're young, cause Elliott County has been twice.
Never have seen Euton play. But...with having "2 of the better players in the state" RH never did make it out of a rather weak region. Good analysis HoopsGirl:thumb:

Elijah Pittman, Ricardo Johnson, JJ Johnson from Holmes sould be near the top of the list.
-
Does Ohio class basketball?
6 classes 6 being the largest
-
Jesse Jensen of Holmes. Realize his team is not very good but the kid is pretty good.
-
Any word yet on where Arrez is going to college?
I have not heard anything? Has anyone else?
-
Something I don't understand is how Nic Simpson of Highlands was selected as honorable mention but not Greg Mcgraw. Simpson sat out nearly 2 months with an injury and MCgraw had I believe 4 30+ point performaces including a 34 point night against the best defensive team in the state in Holmes while also averaging 20+ ppg.
I guess Nic signing with D1 North Carolina A&T was used as the criteria for his honorable mention. Still not right IMO.
Good statement ER. I agree

Ok so the coachimg rumors thread got me thinking.
I've been told that since CCH won the region in either 1970 or early in the 70's they've participated in ever regional tournament since then. Is this true?
I've also been told that they've only won the region twice in that time. Is that true? They've obviuosly done it twice in the last 5 years so that means that there was a long time in between regional titles. While Mike Listerman deseves a lot of credit for winning those regional titles how long was he the assistant before taking over as head coach? If all of this info is really true and Schrand was the outsider who was there and helped them win 2 regionals and now they haven't won any since he left doesn't he deserve at least a little credit?
False.
In 1997 Holy Cross, Holmes, and Covington Catholic all drew into the same side of the 35th District Tourney. Holmes beat HC and Cov. Cath. and beat Ludlow in the final.

They should not transfer because they most likely would not play.:sssh:
