With NCC it obviously took a team...every player, from the Freshman to the Seniors, they all worked hard and the coaches were great leaders....you could see what kind of team they were when they got together and made it happen at the State tournament. A great group of girls!

Remember there were other seniors on that team that contributed.....the 'D1' players were only as good as their help on the floor.....

NCC definitely was the winner this weekend....#l coach in the state ...a good example to all the girls on and off the court....you can't get any better....and about their playing...they were the team! (Gave Mercy a little scare I believe...they looked past NCC a little too quickly)

Agree, NCC played better Volleyball against Mercy....definitely ended the season being #1 in Northern Kentucky....and according to the State Tournament results....3 in the state.

New opponent on the Colonel's schedule this year. Any predictions on the match up? Anyone know much about the Maroons? Oops! sorry did not see existing thread!

I wouldn't jump to conclusions too quickly...I think this tournament needs to play out.....without Assumption being in the mix, players are finding that their attitudes, hopes and dreams take on a whole new meaning. With this said, it puts teams that are normally on different levels...more on an even 'playing field'.

IF is right..........don't discount the Northern Kentucky teams....again, its amazing what happens at tournament time.....we may all be surprised!

Yea, I'd say that's 'way out'. With the upset of Assumption and the teams that will be there....it's a whole new state tournament...not 'same ole, same ole' ....I predict a weekend full of surprises!

Its tournament time....anything can happen....its a whole new ballgame....don't count St Henry out yet.........

sounds like they need to change the dates as it won't be a true A Tournament without the defending Champs in attendance...they will be in Louisville at the LIVT.....you'll also be missing the runner up and so on... If they REALLY want it to succeed they need to do some research...talk to the Volleyball Coaches....or do they just want to 'get it out of the way' so they can go back to their Basketball?

NCC drew Assumption 3 years ago in the first round of the State...

The libero's from both teams had a great night. The passing from the back for NCC in the 2nd and 3rd game made it possible for many of the points that were made.....defense doesn't always get noticed, but it is vital for the win.

This wasn't the first match with a lst game lost for NCC this year..... NCC did have two matches within the past l0 days with St Henry that went just as the HHS match last night. They gave up the lst and came back in the 2/3rd. The first time to win the Conference Champ and in the 2nd the "A State Title" this past weekend. So it wasn't surprising that they kept their composure and won the match.

I don't see any 'trash'. The Enquirer hinted they would pick Highlands to win tonight. It doesn't appear that anything negative is being said about the girls. It's the regular predictions that go on all season long with every sport. Sometimes your team is on the winning side of the predictions and sometimes not. It's sports!

It was noticed by the NCC fans. Good move just as the support that Coach Mertle and NCC Team showed to SHDHS and NDA with their support of their fund raiser for Breast Cancer....lots of good things going on 'off' the court.

And play each point like its the last.

I am also a parent and the word about l0PM last night was that it was going to be changed since originally planned prior to Mertle knowing about the Retirement Celebration which was done without her knowledge. Also, don't forget that great passing comes from the libero Michelle Woods to the front...

NCC in 2 since it will probably be the 'best of 3' ....they will be celebrating Coach Mertle's retirement that night....it should be a great match but even better the salute to a great person, Jenny Mertle.

There must be info somewhere. Our team has plans and reservations already. I'm not sure what they are but our team mom made all our travel arrangements for tournaments etc 6 weeks ago.
