  1. HC better be on the radar as a team to beat....

As it turns out playing a pass happy team like Lex L for the last game should help the pass D get ready for HC. HC is much better on D then in the past and have a much better balance on O then we have seen in the past. This will be a very good game.

  2. Team's other than Trinity and Saint Xavier:

    Manual

    Henry Clay

    Male

    Ryle

    Boone

Round three will answer the question for four of these teams. X,T,Manual and HC. Male and Boone will make it to the semi-final IMO. All games from round three on in 6A should be very good.

  3. Rocks win but I think it will be closer than a lot of these posters think.

    38-21.

I agree with this post. Trinity has not shown me that they can play consistant D yet. The Offense is making Trinity look outstanding against teams we give up way to much yardage to. It has been shown what an off night on offense will do to this team. Dunbar may not be a great team but they do have a good runnning game with some outstand players that have nothing to lose. T wins but I do not see a blowout, I hope to be wrong. Look at the stats in the paper on Saterday and that will be a telling sign if this team is getting better on D.

  4. If you win the final in December, and win 55-3, and just 30 players play, that justifies it all? That same kids who didn't play against Seneca won't play against (insert opponent).

No I am just hoping we get to the Title Game and X is waiting so we can all talk about something important and not how many kids played in the Seneca. Look it has been this way at T since before I played and that was 20 plus years ago. I have many friends who played at X and many went through the same stuff at X (the not playing very much or not getting in the game but maybe one play or nothing at all in a blow out). It happens at both schools and at both schools players quit because of various reasons and unknows become stars for those very reasons.

  5. I guess the way I see it we were close in those games in the first place because of the coaches and players, where most teams would not even be close. It is kinda like the San Diego Chargers, everyone said their old coach could not win in the playoffs so they got a new coach, now they can't even win in the regular season. Fact is Trinity, Male and St.X have had great teams and I would say Manual has done as well as anyone against them, Manual did not lose to them because of bad coaching, there has been many reasons several bad audibles in closing drives, blown coverages and big plays made by great players on the other team. Fans only see results not behind the scenes. That is my opinion. Besides most posters on that hold that opinion are the ones that see Manual as a threat and are eager to discredit what progress has been made, people fear a big four...;)

I think a big four would be geat. At some point Manual will win these games more often. Good luck

  6. I find that statement offensive, Joe Nichols is a great coach and while St. X is a great team and could beat Manual in a rematch, it is not because Joe Nichols is a bad coach. How many other coaches have beaten both Male and Trinity in the last ten years? Fact is that Manual is one of the top ten programs in 6A and has become that in a district that until this year had Two of the big Three in it. Joe Nichols and the rest if the coaches do a great job for Manual.

I do not think anyone really thinks Joe is a bad coach. I would say the issue has been more the perception of how many close games have turned out that have involved the big three. I think your statement about what has been accomplished in that old district is very true and only a fool would say othr wise. Most posters think that Joe will continue to lose the close games a majority of the time due to again the perception of bad play calling on O or D at the end of close games. This could very well be his year to prove every one wrong. I like X in the rematch only because they are playing the best D of all the teams I have seen this year in KY.

  7. No disrespect to PRP but should we even be asking who wins this game. Finch runs for a counrty mile and then some. The only down side for X at this point in the season is they have no to give them a good game until round two of the playoffs. X has one team standing in the way of getting to the tilt game nad that will happen in round two.

  8. 1) I see PRP's first score was set up by a 59 yard kick off return. They started on the Trinity 38. It's much easier to score when you are starting that close.

    2) On PRP's second score they picked up 3 3rd and long conversions. Ouch.

    3) PRP's third score was set up by Trinity's fumbled punt return at the Trinity 24!

When you take all that into consideration, Trinity's special teams set up 2 of PRP's scores. The D gave up one long drive early in the 2nd quarter. I can accept the D's perfomance, but the special teams...

All good points but I will stick to what I have stated this D is not playing well and the scheme is going to cost us a big game in the playoffs.

  9. See St. Xavier's response at

    http://www.saintx.com/news/news.asp?ID=2717

Nice response. I have a question. The reponse stated no Pulic Schools. That statement got me thinking what are the rules at csaa games. What I am asking is what are the rules with regard to coaches wearing appearal from the school they represent and talking to the players after the games? Would this constitute a breaking of KHSAA rules.

  10. Looks like seeing X on a silly national poll has struck a jealous nerve with you.

    We look forward to Dec.

    Go Tigers

Jealous no I was just making a comment about the thread in general. I really hope both teams make it to Dec. Win that game for the hardware and I will be the first to post that X is the best team but to do that X must learn to finish.

  11. X folks you have had your fun now join the rest of us in reality. Lou X wins one game and gets the high national ranking. How did you get the high ranking by beating a team that has earned the hardware for the last six years and been playing the national teams to get the good exposure on a national level. Nice win on Sept 28th and glad to see the tigers doing well in the polls but remember who got you there. Hope to see you in Dec.

  12. Good win Rocks. Many thought the game would be much, much closer. Once again, we've become spoiled. I remember the days when Ballard and other district foes would play Trinity close or even win. A 25 point win on the road against a "complete" Ballard team is a good win.

Anyone know the last two Trinity district losses?

Seneca 03 and before that it was Central in 95 I think

  13. Trinity's offense looked VERY sharp all night, with a few mishaps on the run game, but still, very very sharp on O.

Defense has some work to do yet on the passing game, but they shut down Ballards running attack. Ballards QB looked pretty impressive, he has a nice accurate arm.

Great bounce back win for the Rocks, now lets keep the ball rolling towards #18

We still have much work to do on both sides of the ball to get 18. This was a good step for the O group but the D needs to step it up and play hard. I still think the scheme is not utilizing our kids to their fullist potential.

  14. 97 or 98 I think.

No that was in 95(55-7)I think. 97 and 98 were against the GCL teams of M and X both losses. In 94 we played Ben Davis very tough in Indy. My younger brother was on that team both years we played. Ben Davis was rank in the Top five back in those days and we were still running the veer O. We had great LB;s that year(shawn and Reggie) as we do this year, kind of ironic if you think about it with the X game coming up this Friday. If we had been running a more open attack on O in those days the game would have been even better.
