Invitational Tournament Ref's
Master of the Hardwood replied to dogman's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
In some of these tourneys refs are used from through out the other regions, but in some of them the refs just come from the region who is hosting the tourney. For example in the WYMT tourney, 13th,14th, and 15th officials are used and if your region team is playing then you can't call that game as an official. So this year since there are 4 14th region teams in the tourney, there will be no 14th region official call the first round of games. I feel this is the best way to run a tourney, if you have people come in from all over the place to play, you should try and have some different officials call that don't have any ties to that region, who can be unbiased! I think that is the most fair way to do tourneys! -
14th Region All A
Master of the Hardwood replied to Lightning's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I seen Buckhorn and Jackson City play this summer and I look forward to that game in the all A! Should be a heck of a game, and the winner against KNott will be a good one too. -
Who Will Win The 14th?
Master of the Hardwood replied to bballer1's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Not true professor, he is also playing soccer for PCC and is playing in the semi's of the regional tourney tonight against corbin. No chance of him leaving. -
55th District predictions
Master of the Hardwood replied to sportsazoid's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Well Breathitt will have a lock on that district. 4 returning starters and wolfe lost everyone. Jackson city will still put up a fight, but I think they will be a few players short! Coach Hall will have them playing hard though! -
Who Will Win The 14th?

it was PCC jv team that played in the tourney..varsity did not play! Still Buckhorn played well and will be a good team this year. -
14th Region All A
Master of the Hardwood replied to Lightning's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
JBS has to be the favorite with what they have coming back! Hazard also has a great returning team with Hicks and Campbell that will be tough to beat. Lee county if they are hitting the 3 could be dangerous in their running game, and Buckhorn and Cordia will both have strong teams that could upset a few teams but probably not win the whole thing. Knott Central is a wild card, they have a couple of good players, but who knows if the new coach can get them to play like they are capable of, we will find out soon! A lot depends on the DRAW...Does anyone have who everyone plays? -
14th Region Top Players By Team
Master of the Hardwood replied to bballer1's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Maybe not by 26, but they can still win without him! They have a solid TEAM, and that is what matters, people will start giving them a little credit sooner or later. -
KHSAA records
Master of the Hardwood replied to Crossbar's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
that was ridiculous! And people wonder why teams don't take any mercy on Jackson City. -
Where is everyone going? Where is the best place to go out of state for the tournaments around Christmas time? Some go to florida, some to gatlinburg, there is even a good tourney in Las Vegas. Just wondered who has the best hospitality and where i need to make plans to attend to watch some good ball! I know the 5th/3rd is a great one to watch right here in the state, but i like to travel and like a break from kentucky for a week every now and then, especially if you can be at a beach some where.

Powell vs. Lee matchup
Master of the Hardwood replied to bballer1's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I would have to agree, all 3 of their matchups this year will be great games. Who ever is playing the best defense will get the wins in the big game in the district! And as for the coaches, both are great guys, but Coach Lively would hands down win in a one-on-one match up, sorry Coach Wright, but I have played with him and the boy can play! -
Well after you take out Hazard and JBS...that was the only 3 teams that were a little above the rest in the all A... So of course they were going to dominate the rest of them! But i guess the wins over Perry central (who beat lee), estill, pikeville, prestonsburg, and berea etc... were just easy games too right! People need to start giving these guys a little credit, yes they were in the 3 rivers conference, and had to play those weak schools, which they have gotten out of this year(i think) to make room for a lot better competition, hopefully!

East Ridge coach moves on
Master of the Hardwood replied to NEXT's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Heard it was offered to Campbell from PCC and he turned it down as of yesterday! Don't know about the Former Knott Coaches decision, but heard he probably wouldn't be leaving perry county either! Up for grabs again i guess! Have heard possibly Cavanaugh Trents name mentioned! Guess we will find out soon! -
Got two that I remember! The first has to be the big turn around from the Wolfe/Hazard games Wolfe beat hazard at wolfe 67-64 in the all A at wolfe Then when they met again back at Wolfe a little later it was 81-48, that was a dominating performance! The second was how Leslie beat up on Lee county in the Regional Tourney. Lee had a great year and some great players but Leslie handed them a big 72-57 loss! Pretty dominating also for a regional tournament game with two good teams!

WYMT Tourney
Master of the Hardwood replied to Master of the Hardwood's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
What is the nicest school to have the WYMT TOURNEY at in the 13th region?? If they moved it to alternating regions, they would use the expo center in the 15th, knott and pcc in the 14th, Where would it be in the 13th? Biggest gym, easy parking situation, BEST HOSPITALITY ROOM , etc. I know the hospitality room at Knott Central is a heck of a lot better than the peanut butter and jelly or ham sandwiches we get at PCC! Those ladies in Knott county can cook. -
East Ridge coach moves on

When are they supposed to name a new coach for this position? How many people are in the running for it? I have heard a name from Perry county may be in the running(not Coach Holland) -
Who Will Win The 14th?
Master of the Hardwood replied to bballer1's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I would have to say Jbs will have the most talent. And will be well coached by Jim Stepp and Associates! They will be a solid all around team and barring any set backs should be showing their stuff in rupp! But you will also have to beat the Hazard and PCC team that are there in the end every year. Also, Lee will be running and gunning all year long and if they are hitting at the right time could pull a couple upsets in the tourney! Yes JBS has the most talent, but that always don't get you to the promise land! -
WYMT Tourney
Master of the Hardwood replied to Master of the Hardwood's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)

Best College Prospect in the 14region
Master of the Hardwood replied to kymason's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I believe Robert Amis from Perry Central went to a Military College, but I'm pretty sure he is already back home! He should try and go to Pikeville or Alc, would be a great player for either of those teams. -
Knott Central's New Coach is.....
Master of the Hardwood replied to Pat Dad's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Totally agree, 2 years is just enough time to get everyone interested in what a coach is wanting to do, then they should give him 2 more years to see if his stuff is working out with the program! 4 years should be minimum unless you are having a major problem with a coach. They just want a yes man that they can tell what to do, and when they go and try to do what is right or buck against certain people, they show them the door OR THEY MAKE IT SO BAD ON THEM THEY HAVE TO LEAVE! Not a good reputation for a school to have! No wonder no one with experience will apply, they know going in it's only for 2 years. -
Just wondering if we know yet who is scheduled to be in the WYMT Tourney this year? What does everyone think about it changing sites between the two big gyms in the 14th region(Knott Central and Perry Central) As for watching games i love Knott Centrals gym but parking is crazy their! Parking at perry central is much better, but just doesn't have the feel of Knott's place! Knott had this tourney for so long, why did they start alternating this thing in the first place?

Coach Hall had his Tiger team playing hard and learning his system, they will be running which is good to see. Owsley's Coach probably is just pulling his hair out now that Neeley has transferred. Coach Lively had his team playing well. They are young and have been playing together for a little while. He will do a great job with them and people will have to look out for them, especially at home! Coach Banks Breathitt team has a good team coming back. A good group that plays good togehter, that will win a lot of games in this region! Coach Amburgey will have his boys running and gunning. They played a lot of games this summer and they all play well together. He has gotten some talent to work with, now he just needs to be let alone and figure out how to get all of them on the same page and happy! Didn't see Coach Morris' Hazard team, but know the 3 players they have coming back will lead them to the All A again if they can sneak by JBS and have a good shot at beating PCC in the District!

Knott Central's New Coach is.....
Master of the Hardwood replied to Pat Dad's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
You are right, Stuart is a great player and will only improve! The only thing wrong with KCC has nothing to do with players and coaches, it's the parents, grandparents and everyone else that has to put in their two cents... if they would just leave whoever is coaching alone, the school and teams would be a lot better off! Yeah most of them sit and watch the game while it's going on, but before and after they all have to try and tell these coaches what it is they should be doing! If they can't do the job, don't hire them, and since they have been hired, let them do THEIR job, if they need help from the parents i'm sure they will ask for it! -
Knott Central's New Coach is.....
Master of the Hardwood replied to Pat Dad's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Stamper does coach, that is why they probably got rid of Coach Feltner! They probably didn't see eye to eye on things! I think Feltner did a great job and really got a raw deal out of it all. He done great with what he had and worked his butt off all of the time. You can only do so much with what you have and he was working on a good young team growing up together, but that is how it is in Knott county, if you do a good job they always get rid of you!(Jim Rose, Herbie Stamper, David J Stamper, J Honeycutt, N Feltner) All were good coaches and at the time they were let go were doing a great job, i don't know what the board wants out of these guys, maybe they need to suck it up and PAY a little bit and coaches will be a lot happier. But with the little that these guys did get, they still worked their butts off for this school and look what it got them. FIRED! Good luck to Justin, I just hope after he has a couple of good years with the young talent that coach Feltner has brought up, they don't treat him like the others in the past! Have a great season Pats!
