  1. 13-16 with a brutal schedule. Beat both teams they could have played in the semis during the regular season as well.

When hasn't Carr played a brutal schedule? Traditionally plays as tough a schedule as anyone outside of probably Covington Catholic the last few years.

Has always scheduled top tier 10th Region teams and a few out of region highly ranked opponents and a top notch Christmas tournament. Throw in your NKAC/9th Region teams and always a difficult schedule. Nothing out of the ordinary this season.

  2. 4 quarters worth of takeaways from the game yesterday:

    1. Living in NKY, that's to far to drive for a regional tournament. I don't blame the 37th for trying to get CCMS or NKU every four years if they can. Like I've said before move it to Mason and be done with it, it's just to far away from most of the region.

    2. Jake Ohmer is the best player I've seen in the tenth region. That can be open for debate, but the next player I see in the tenth that can guard him will be the first.

    3. The Augusta kids, not just Snapp, Maddox, and Crawford simply put are winners.

    4. Can't help but feel a little for Brad Carr and his staff. They've been close so many times to going to Rupp since joining the tenth, and this may well have been the best shot they've had.

Overtime: Players from both teams showed a tremendous amount of class during and after the game. It reminded me of a fight that went the full 12 rounds and afterwards both hugged and shook hands. Good to see in this day and age.

Carr has had better teams playing in extremely tight regional semi's and a couple of region finals that did not go there way.

This Scott team is a 13-16 team that lost in first round of region. Even with Campbell Co losing did not see this team putting together a 3 game run.

  3. Serious question, and I ask more because of his son being a senior than anything else, but will Rod Snapp be coaching at Newport next year? Any thoughts?

Ethan will be playing college ball just a couple of hours up the road. Tough decision to continue coaching at the high school level or do the road trips to watch Ethan at the next level.

Think Coach Snapp does a really good job in an extremely difficult environment.

  4. I've been reading about how talented Hawkins is for over a year on here.

What am I missing? Numbers just aren't there.

Think a lot of people were expecting a breakout year from Hawkins. Apparently was healthy enough and played well enough on the summer circuit for Belmont and Lipscomb to come watch him in preseason open gyms?

Interesting skill set for a kid his size but not sure it has translated to success at the high school level yet.

  5. I probably have 1000 pictures.

It's a pretty incredible world under the surface.

The best is January - March and you can hear the Humpbacks singing while you're down there.

We were there in March 10 years ago and had one of the most fantastic whale watching experiences. We were in one of those 20 foot boats and somehow ended up between 2 pods of Humpbacks. For 3 hours we had whales breeching and going directly under our boats as they moved between pods. Even our guide was blown away saying it was one of his best days on the water.

Unfortunately with the kids graduation and work schedule we are pretty much limited to June this time around.

  6. If you are in for rest and relaxation we enjoyed the big island. Others on the trip did some activities, but we just chilled and ate good. Maui was were we did all the activities and it seemed more commercialized and crowded. Also ate good there too. Lol

I remember eating VERY well on our last trip! :ylsuper:

  7. In the process of researching Hawaii vacation this summer as a college graduation present for the family.

My wife and I went there 10 years ago for 20th anniversary and spent 10 days on 3 islands, Oahu, Maui, and Big Island.

Taking the two boys adds in some additional cost and we do have some type of budget. Do we need to hit 3 islands or can we get the full Hawaii experience just visiting Maui or Kona or even another island?

Was least impressed with Oahu last time but everyone in family is history buff and the Pearl Harbor Memorial was one of the highlights of the last trip. We could probably do everything that we need to do on Oahu in a one day trip?

June vacation takes us out of whale watching season but we would still be kayaking, snorkeling, hiking, etc.

Any thoughts, suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

  8. Kellen Smith from Scott should be on this list.

10th Region has always been very small school centric. There are a lot of players who put up big numbers at these small schools while some players who played at Scott and Campbell County don't get those opportunities against that small school schedule.

Scott is a relative newcomer to the 10th as well.

Won't make the argument that Kellen should be in the top 20 but he should be in that 20-25 area based on his resume at the high school level and will follow up with a solid career at the D2 level in college.

  9. Is Tiffin A D2 team.

Tiffin is a D2 currently in the GLIAC. Unless they make a big jump from last year they are not considered one of the better teams in the conference.

Tiffin when they shoot the ball well from 3 can give teams a lot of trouble but they don't have a lot of depth and that hurts them in the grind of conference play.

  10. Good question.

My concern is hearing Brannen say he wants to play 94 feet both ways. That doesn't seem to fit Drew's style.

That style does not seem to fit returning player Gielser or McDonald. Giesler only played 11 minutes against a team in which NKU had a significant size differential.

Realize that can be tough in exhibitions where the D2 & D3 teams run out 4 & 5 guard lineups at times but you would hope the D1 team would be talented enough to dictate style of play.

  11. Just watched it again. It was Glenn they were tearing apart. They may lose me if they bring him back.

Love the show and Glenn was probably my favorite character but if they don't kill him off there it I will be very disappointed.

One of the big draws for me with TWD and Game of Thrones is that no one is safe in those worlds..

  12. I think you know the answer already, but it was D2. Does that change what you think? I think they won the D1 Ky State.

With the growth of the showcase type events and Nike, Adidas and Under Armour basically having their own circuits now AAU is no longer the premier event.

While their are still elite teams and organizations that participate in AAU the competition level is just not what it used to be. I just don't get that excited when I hear about teams making a run in D2.

If you feel you are good enough to win the D2 championship play D1 and at least go against the best that play at the AAU level. Just my opinion....

  13. With this being the first season that GMAC gets AQ into NCAA D2 tourney I could see KWC getting him eligible for 2nd half of season. If he could help them make a run this season with all of those seniors might be worhtwhile to them.

GMAC is going to get considerably tougher with the GLIAC schools entering in a couple of years. Might want to make the run when you have the opportunity.
