  1. I agree, its partially lack of talent, but the football culture of losing defintely hurts their roster numbers. They used to be a highly competitive program, but have had only one or two teams since the late 90's that has been competitive. I am gonna tell you basketball and soccer are king at Marshall, with football getting the leftovers.
  2. Definitely a reflection of the confidence Beechwood had/has as a program.

  4. I haven't seen as many as others might have. Somerset/Mayfield has been the best. I would say 1995 Mayfield/Beechwood would be second for me. 4th quarter Beechwood scores and goes for 2 point conversion instead of the extra point and a tie. Pretty exciting game.
  5. For me, emotion definitely clouded logic with regards to the PI call. That has happened to everyone on this site at some point or another, so I think we can dispense with the "all Mayfield fans are whiners". If we got beat DECISIVELY and were still on here complaining, there would be absolute merit to that accusation. But given what it came down to, questioning the call is a reaction you would see from any fanbase, not just Mayfield. It didn't matter what the call ended up being (PI or not), there would have been discussion on this site as to the legitimacy of said call, and the result of the game no matter who you were rooting for. And that's what this site is for. As far as Somerset dominating, their pass blocking was great most of the game. And there were drives where their run game stalled, and then other drives where they methodically marched down. Their red zone defense was a difference maker, forcing Mayfield to kick a field goal twice (missing one) and obviously the 4th and 6 stop on Mayfield's last possession. Both teams made critical errors. Somerset recovered well and Mayfield didn't. But numbers don't lie, and this was a photo finish. Winning by the skin of your teeth is the opposite of domination.
  6. Easy to be on the high ground when you win. If that flag wasn’t thrown I don’t think you would be letting it go so easy either. Not to mention I complimented Somerset more in that post than I questioned the call.
  7. The still shot photo being posted doesn’t show that the Somerset player initiated 100% of the contact. For me, that is where I don’t get it. Doesn’t matter now. I will say it was an outstanding game. I thought Somerset played with great sportsmanship (lot of butt and helmet pats, helping opponents up, etc.). They were a fun team to watch and certainly deserving of the title. Congrats to you guys. I’m proud of Mayfield and their perseverance this season. Had some ups and downs. Came up one play short. Wouldn’t trade my alma mater for anyone.
  8. Saw a different angle from another twitter post. Which was still left some doubt about accuracy of call. But this was a better angle. And no, not a good call. Mayfield player goes straight up and Somerset player runs into him. Crappy call. But it is what it is.

  10. Or the refs could let them play ball instead of injecting themselves in the game. Mayfield player played the ball the entire time and Was more aggressive. Also thought Somerset player was tackled inbounds in beginning of that drive and they called him out. Great season by Somerset and congrats. Great game and they never quit.
  11. Any of these mayfield fumbles controversial? Two times the refs huddle and aren’t sure what to call, then announce Somerset ball. Asking because I’m so far away
