  1. I know this ranking uses a formula, but I think it is pretty dead on from everything I have observed this year. I would have Collins at number one. Still think Simon Kenton may be a little high after their last loss. Gallatin County's schedule is too weak to warrant anything higher.
I too think that Collins is worthy of your ranking and praise. Rankings are for keyboard jockeys to pretend they know something. But your comment about GC is uneducated at best, considering that GC beat the team that you think should be number one.
  2. All I'm saying is that if it isn't officially a KHSAA championship then it isn't a state championship. I don't like 6 classes, I liked 4.

If you want a small school state title then classify it, if you want to hold this mythical ideal of the Sweet 16 up to be this paragon of sports then don't try to cheapen it by saying that another tournament is also a state championship then go right ahead.

Call it All A Champs, All A Tournament Champs, just don't call it a state title because the only ones who bestow those in KY are the folks at the KHSAA.

Yeah, but to be honest, I think most of the All A naysayers aren’t just against it being called a “state championship”, they are just against the All A in general.
  3. Except that 1A-6A is how we do football in KY. If you want your tournament championship to be an actual state championship then classify basketball and it can be.

Otherwise it is an impressive tournament championship, but currently KY only has 1 state championship in basketball.

You are obviously a football person. No thanks......having 6 classes for football in this State is downright silly. Basketball is just fine as is, including the All A and AA. Believe it or not, I have known several kids to get a lot of college attention, and even offers due to their play in the All A “State” Tournament. I know a girl that is currently playing D1 basketball, that started to get her first interest from college coaches that saw her play for first time in the All A “State” Tournament.

  4. I don't understand the premise that a high school basketball athlete can’t have a good experience without multiple, separated classes of competition. Basketball is not football. This might surprise many on here......the difference between NCAA D1/D2/D3 and has ZERO to do with enrollment. Same with NAIA and NJCAA.

  5. Right on, Coach Jones has done this year in and year out for a LONG TIME. I've said for a long time he is one of the better coaches in NKY as well as the state. Always short on talent, but always competitive. P.S., I have never lived in Gallatin County.
Coach Jones deserves all of the credit for eliminating the loser mentality that permeated the GC boys program for many years. He is definitely a top tier coach. But, to assume that GC is always full of kids that are void of talent is a lazy narrative.
  6. This is a great article on former Boyle County Rebel, Jeremiah Bell and his expanding role at UW-Milwaukee in his junior year there.

Jeremiah recently scored 26 points in an OT loss and has been placed in the starting lineup for UW-Milwaukee as he is now being counted on to score. He is tied for the team lead in scoring with 14.3 points a game.

Jeremiah is originally from Louisville and played at Butler before moving to Boyle County right before his senior year began. Upon graduating from Boyle County he attended Vincennes University and then went to UW-Milwaukee prior to his sophomore year.

I’m extremely proud of Miah and grateful for the opportunity to get to know him and his family.

    Keep shining, Miah!!!!!

UWM's Jeremiah Bell leaves the bench behind

Thoroughly enjoyed watching him play in 2015 Sweet 16, and got to watch him up close at Vincennes on a regular basis. Way to go JB.
