  1. Have heard that football may be an option.

Didn't he have an older brother that was pretty good at Carson Newman?

Brother had a good career at CN......in basketball. Brother also had good football career in high school, but did not play football after high school.

  2. Well that sucked. A few people said this team reverted back to the Jan and Feb. Team I disagree. The team back then gets blown out in this type of game with the pressure, fouls, and K state hitting threes. At the end of the day this game came down to two things. K state shot better than normal and Washington not being able to make free throws.
    Agreed, great post.
  3. You are kidding right? Or are you that out of touch with reality? UConn Women practice daily against boys the level of most of the CCH players. Dangerfield, Williams and Samuelson are three to four years older and play at a speed you obviously don't appreciate or simply refuse to recognize.

I can’t speak for UConn, but most D1 women’s teams practice against very average former high school boys players.

  4. Folks are looking at this at a way too "micro" level. We are simply following a national trend.

families have a lot more options for entertainment as well as a lot more "time commitments". I'm sure there were families who couldn't come because they had soccer and baseball games last weekend..

15 years ago before the rise in popularity of "travel sports" kids would have had a game on Saturday morning and free time the rest of the day. Now kids travel two or 3 hours every weekend and have 2 or 3 games.

It's the same reason why other sports attendance is down, country club membership is down and movie attendance is down. A LOT more competition for entertainment dollars.

Hit the nail on the head. This is why high school gyms aren’t packed across the state, especially on Friday nights. Youth sports have come to totally dominate the spectrum. I can also attest to the fact that mostly older folks attend mid major college games and high school games.

  5. Campbell County looked well coached with good discipline, UHA was the complete opposite. In the Western part of the state you can run teams out of the gym with pace and athleticism, but at Rupp you have to be able to slow the game down and compete in the halfcourt.

UHA brings back about everyone and only loses 2 seniors in the rotation, but they are 2 forwards and probably our tallest players. UHA has issues with depth and size. They need to work on defending in the half court and running set plays in the offseason, if they can fix those things they will be a top 15 team in the state next year.

Kyky Tandy is probably the front-runner for Mr. basketball for 2019.

Watched UHA at the Lexington Catholic tournament in December. Great athleticism, but they don’t like to guard. Seemed a bit selfish too.

  6. Anyone pay attention to NAIA men's basketball? Just curious considering there were five schools from KY that made the 32 team feild tournament.

The Mid South Conference is real good basketball. Hearing that Thomas More will be out of the Presidents Conference next year, then will go from NCAA D3 to NAIA D1 the following year. And be a member of the Mid South Conference.

  7. Saw it mentioned in this thread that SK made no defensive adjustments. That is totally false.....GC’s Coomer had 14 in the first half, but finished with 20. He didn’t get clean looks in the second half. The sooner SK fans/parents get off of their imagined high perch, the sooner the SK kids will buy in the way Coach Jones’s kids do. SK girls have won the 8th a few times since 2007, and yes, Coach Stowers does a good job. But, he has won the 8th when he has had the most talent. SK boys might have had the most talent in 2007, but they lost to a good Oldham County team in the finals. Other than that, SK has not had the most talent in the 8th.

Also, really tired of the LAZY NARRATIVE that GC is void of talent at all times. Coach Jones gets them to buy in.

  8. So you are okay with a 10 year old buying a gun? If you say no aren't you infringing then?

Dick's (and Field and Stream) aren't the federal government. They can make rules for themselves. If they want to set an age limit for selling sweatshirts in their stores, they can do that.

Your post did not mention anything about private business. You were suggesting restricting law abiding adults from purchasing a fire arm, since the 2A does not mention age.
