Lots of issues at Valley. They do lose a lot of their kids to other schools in the current student assignment plan. JCPS new assignment plan may change some of that. I'm sure families will find away around being locked into their home school. It also didn't help that Valley's former coached stepped down before the season started and they didn't not have a coach hired when practice started.

Any clue if they pressed? If so, how long was it on?

You have to admit that was a pretty convenient time to catch COVID. Not 1 team that year that I can recall who where heavily favorited to win caught COVID just the heavy underdogs who expected blowouts. That’s a big coincidence.
Saying they finished undefeated is what kept those kids going. They were crushed. I can assure you Owensboro administration was notified early in the week that there could be a problem. The athlete and his family started having symptoms within the 48 hr window of contact that JCPS followed set by the health department. It was a terrible rule and JCPS screwed all athletic teams that year with this rule. JCPS shut down all teams for two weeks during the season because of the high numbers. Those kids did everything right and followed all the guidelines and did not deserve that decision. By the way the Principal's son was the starting center on that team. She was not happy with this decision. Your comment is still uncalled for.

This is a really fun thread. @Tkinslow has made it fun by giving the Bulldogs a chance. Appreciate that. The reason I'm a little salty towards Fairdale is that in 2020 Fairdale had a lot of talk; zero schedule then when they were scheduled to go to Rash Stadium they got Covid. I don't know, I'm calling that convenient timing. Maybe they did and maybe they didn't. Doesn't matter. But that non-game hurt Owensboro's rhythm that year when they lost in the Championship Game to BG. Now I'm a BG guy, but that little closing up shop has stuck with me.
What matters is Fairdale hasn't seen a pair of athletes like Goodwin on D and Carbon on O this entire year - Beechwood included. If Hines plays on the DLine, there will be zero push for Fairdale and all kinds of guys in the backfield. When Owensboro doubles Fairdale's fine WR Jayshawn Shannon and they stack the box with Goodwin standing on the outside of the tackle box ready to roll. What then Bulldogs???????
Owensboro did lose to OCath (OVER 2 MONTHS AGO). But IMO OCath is better than any team on Fairdale's schedule but Beechwood and that includes South Oldham.
I stick by my prediction: Running Clock Red Devils.
Wow! You really think telling an 8-0 team that practiced up until Thursday and had presold over 100 tickets (ticket sales were limited due to Covid) to the game was convenient. That was heartbreaking. That's an absolutely ridiculous comment. That team was Fairdale's best chance to beat Owensboro. JCPS shut Fairdale down over one case. Fairdale continues to upgrade its schedule but can't control the quality of their district games. Whether or not we compete well or not we will be there ready to play. It was just preseason scrimmage but we handled CAL pretty easily. Hopefully we will compete well. Your comment was un called for!

My sense is Ballard is probably by consensus view the best job in the state. Certainly towards the top if not #1. By that standard Renner has perhaps underachieved, if even a little. This year maybe is a microcosm: I think most people would say, top to bottom, Ballard has more talent than Male, yet Male is 3-0 against them. If all of that is true, it would argue against staying in-house. You stay in-house and take a chance on a (presumably) unproven assistant if you’ve been wildly successful. If not, would seem to argue for going outside…..
Male had Kaleb Glynn. Ballard had no answer for him.

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a technical for celebrating in the championship game of a regional tournament after a team goes up by 4 with 8.9 seconds remaining. Ballard made both technical shots and then scored on the inbound to tie and send the game into overtime. Unless there is something else that happened that I’m not aware of I just don’t like seeing officials inject themselves into the possible outcome of the game like that. The tv announcers said it was whistled for “over celebrating”.
He flipped the double bird and choice words to the Ballard crowd right next to the official. Whether he should have called it or not is debatable. The T on Selah was deserved he actually threw a punch. The T on Ballard in my opinion was a cover for the T called to make it off setting. The Ballard player was on the other side of the court and the official that called was on the other side.

Not enough games this year for Male. Should have played the last week coming off of quarantine. Just my opinion.

Has North Hardin won a title? If not I would think they would be in the top 5

Male was impressive last night beating Ballard. If they give that effort each night they will be tough to beat. Howard Fleming's return has elevated them to whole new level.

I understand the criticism of our schedule. However, We are averaging 49ppg and have had a running clock in all but three games. We have taken care of business. We are loaded at the receiver spot. We may get beat like you all say, But I think we will put points on the board. See you Friday night.

The dawgs will be ready! Chance to prove themselves. Not well versed on teams in Owensboro area but how good are the teams that they have played?
-
The Dawgs schedule has not been the toughest, but they have 21 Sr's this year and are very talented especially on offense. A big boost this year was several of their top basketball players Ty Walter and Stephen Moore came out this year and gives them playmakers. Ty Walter was putting up crazy numbers before sitting out several games due to a knee injury. His first game back he had a td. Haven't seen Owensboro play but I feel like this team can compete. Looking forward to it if it happens.

Correct!

Can you play 7on7 in an out of state camp?

Interesting that a Non-Traditional student gets into Male that turns away traditional kids due to filling up. Male/Ballard rivalry just heated up.

The players that get there are usually influenced by their high school coach. Most players that are at tryouts are usually accompanied by their coach. If coaches emphasize it enough and take the time to make sure they get there more players would participate. There is an issue with kids enrolling in D-1 schools. But how many does that effect in KY? Courier journal only had 88 ballots turned is for all state and the girls side only 36. A lot of coaches don't even join the KABC which has done a god job protecting and promoting HS basketball in the state. The KABC had to take this game over or it wouldn't even have happened. This indicates to me that you have too many coaches out there that are not promoting their kids or this game enough. Boo Brewer Called them out and should have.
