I saw the try outs in Georgetown this year. Talent for the boys was definitely down, but it was a well run session. It looked like they had coaches from around the state running the stations and grading players on the court. Saw a number of small college coaches there and their staff. The girls sessions were nothing short of a battle. Very competitive. Boys had great coaches, just a little short on talent, it seems.

Also had an unbelievable ceremony at his school. Half the town was in the Gym ( OK a bunch) including their State Senator, Major and the whole school board. The place was electric. Pretty classy 18 yr old. Good representative.

15 players at $225, expensive playing time for a kid. What have the attendance numbers been in the past?

April 21st at Georgetown College around 5pm They end April 22nd somewhere around 5pm

King Kelly Coleman was listed as the first for years. Some years ago a gentleman researched the games origins in Ky and its long standing stats. He discovered that the award for years was "The star of stars" until 1954 when Vernon Hatton was named Mr. Basketball. The next year was Kenny Kuhn from Louisville Male and then The King in 1956. Interesting subject.

How long did they play at MMI?

they're not just giving up 2 or 3 inches. They are giving up raw strength, lateral movement, leaping ability and basketball skills to this kid. you shadow him and hope your 3 to 4 guard offense fills it up with threes

Randy Napier from Perry Co. is the Asst. Coach. I've heard that he has a great deal of influence over the coaching of this team. The Coaches of the year from each region will pare the field down to 18 at the tryouts. After that a small selection comm. including the Head coach and Asst Coach will pick the final team.

Who do you think the best Mr. Basketball was? How about Jim McDaniels from 1967 coming out of Allen Co?

Kentucky's boys may have an uphill battle, but this years girls look strong at all positions. Too close to call for the girls.

Who are the top head coaches still coaching in Ky?

The Indiana Game Director just scheduled them for their first public scrimmage. Indiana's Mr. Basketball has told the Indianapolis Star that he is looking forward to it. I think they will play. Just my opinion.

They announce Miss Basketball on April 14th at 10 a.m. in Frankfort at the Capitol in the Rotunda.

I've heard that Walt Allen is going to a Presperterian School that may be going to a Div 1 ranking next year.
