  1. Early contenders? Petticrew/E-Town Brent/ Doss Who else? Thanks
  2. I believe Coach Helton And Jim Underwood put this team together.
  3. Additional girls that may play: Rebbecca Gray Holly Milburn Caroline Klein Elizabeth Campbell Tabnie Dozier Whitney Ballinger Emily London
  4. A real mis step on my part, I was unaware that any one had signed yet, sorry.
  5. Hope Brown Janae Howard Whitney Odum Emily Queen Laura Terry Sabrina Johnson Mindy Merritt Chloe Elam Emily London Rachael Swisher Kelleshia Cook Desarae Chambers
  6. Great statistic! The 1975 NCAA Final Four had 14 players on their teams that played in the Ky / IN All Star series. KY All Stars 1 Terry Howard - UL 2 Bill Bunton - UL 3 Jimmy Dan Conner - KY 4 Phillip Bond - UL 5 Wesley Cox - UL 6 Stanley Bunton - UL 7 Larry Johnson - UK 8 Jack Givens - UK 9 James Lee - UK 10 Rick Wilson - UL IN All Stars 11 Junior Bridgeman - UL 12 Pete Trgovich - UCLA 13 Mike Flynn - UK 14 Danny Brown - UL Ten of them are going to the game in Bowling Green on the 17th.
  7. Also nice to see Harry Todd, Ralph Richardson and Kami Thomas get into the Kentucky All Star Hall of Fame.
  8. It looks to me that the attendance of this game has dropped over the years. The game in Bowling Green is bringing back the numbers - but not to the glory years of yesterday - never will. If the game gets to the point that its too big for BG, than it may make sense to play in Louisville. Maybe be able to get more IN fans to come watch the game in KY.
  9. Should the Kentucky All Star Game be Held in Louisville?
  10. Walt Allen not scoring in double figures - and your point? IN beat Ky by 37 in 1960 / In beat Ky by 36 in 1947 / Ky beat In by 33 in 1997 , I hope Ky makes it a close game and only wins by 5 points in overtime.
  11. In the first two scrimmages Fothergill was 2 for 11. He had an uneventfull try out.
  12. when he was invited to try outs, I would quess his status was not in question. he was probably still in good standing.
  13. Neither Enchandu nor Brown from MMI were invited. They were not declared eligible by the Foundations new rules. It would have been nice to have two big men. But I think that after last years experience with Jassy they wanted to make sure there weren't any gray areas.
  14. It doesn't seem that this team is trying to be politically correct. The try out process trys to bring in players from around the state. Along with the head coach and coaches from around the state, they try to put together a group of individuals to form a team that will play within that coaches style. Where their going to or where they came from should not matter for this game. Political correctness has watered down our society and has enabled us to justify achieving at the lowest denominator. imo - when the coaches are choosing the team, I don't think they intentionally exclude players from certain regions. If a particular region or a heavily populated demographic area has more candidates; then you would naturally assume that statiscally more players from those areas would end up in the final numbers. The same is true with Indiana. They also have more players to choose from; therefore, you have more chances at D1 players. This year Eastern Ky may have had a down year as did the rest of the state. Miss Cole from Breathitt Co. should have made the team - she did not show for try outs. E. Ky. 1976 - Birdell Fish 1977 - Jayna Farris 1978 - Bonnie Sizemore Some young ladies from the eastern 1979 - Denise Combs part of our great Commonwealth 1980 - Marsha Charles 1981 - Cindi Clay 1982 - Margy Shelton 1983 - Tiphanie Bates 1984 - Corian Wells 1985 - Kelly Stamper 1986 - Pam Gooch 1987 - Debbie Hoskins 1988 - Jude Magrane some great players come from the East 1989 - Autumn Damron just not enough 1990 - Kim Mays 1991 - Jenny Randall 1992 - Stephanie Goforth 1993 - Amanda Baker 1994 - Kim Denkins 1995 - Shea Lunsford 1996 - Erica Jackson
  15. every basketball fan in Ky could pick the top 7 players for the team. the challenge is picking the next 5 that will complete the team. perhaps its not the 12 best players by someones opinion but ends up being 12 individuals that make up the best team with some playing roles. this year coaches around the state set up stations with 3 girls each and ran drills throughout the first day. they kept stats on each girl and talked about their strenghts after each session. when a girl was not performing strongly in an area, coaches encouraged them to get the most out of them. very energetic and physical try out. I felt that each girl got a legitimate look and many slots were interchangeable with such a talented group. but when it comes down to it, the head coach has to have a team he feels that he can coach and win with. always easy to second quess. seems like they take it pretty seriously. these are all young people with great attitudes, it is a shame not to be able to put them all on the team,
  16. It looks like they are looking for speed and 3 point shooters
  17. Collette Cole from Breathitt Co would have been one more had she attended try outs.
  18. A very heroic group of girls at the try outs. I have never seen a more dedicated intense group for a set of try outs. Looking forward to see this group play Indiana.
  19. You obviously have not experienced this All Star Game. Its an honor to play for your state. It is a title that sticks with you where ever you go. When they mention your name in college, they also say that you were a Ky All Star. It does not cost the players a dime to try out or play. You are treated with respect and honor from your peers and fans. Ball hogs and showboats don't last long on the floor during this series. The try outs even for Mr. Basketball who has already made the team is tough. You are trying to prove that you belong and can mesh with everyone around you. Ralph Beard and Allen Houston still talk about the friendships they made and the driving desire to beat Indiana as a team. Whoever "they" pick will have an uphill battle against Oden this year, but they will be playing as a team. you should attend.
  20. Davis's College coach said she was unable to attend during the two weeks needed during the summer for the games. I think she would have had a great chance at making the team. The two girls that left after Friday night may have been intimidated by how physical the first day try outs were. Roof looked as if she was having a good try out though.
  21. You would have to ask Dunaway and Miller. They were invited. Their schools sent their stats and pictures in, and they both had rooms for the try outs. 40 were invited 38 attended. Any secrecy is unintentional I'm sure. They send out letters to every H.S. Head Coach and AD. They also send letters to over 8000 Lions in the State of Ky. They inform the sports writers and college coaching staffs. Each parent and player is ultimately made aware. The KABC ran the try outs and Georgetown College hosted them. The coaches of the year from each region ran the actual on floor try outs. College referees are on the floor during scrimmages. College trainers and managers from around the state were active. Seems like a pretty diverse group. Open gym to the public. Indiana even sent representatives/ scouts.
  22. Gave those selecting the team more time to give attention to everyone instead of trying to select a team in 45 minutes with the press and the kids waiting. Also awkward for the players, they thought it might be better for them to hear their fate with their families. Coaches prefer it. I felt that Dunaway and Miller would both have made it, if they showed.
