  1. Highlands is usually pretty informal. Not a lot said. A trophy here and there. Maybe a snack to hold you over till Dinner. :D

But other than that, if you have about 8hrs on the Sunday before the Super Bowl, then go check it out. It really is something special. In all seriousness, someone like Henry can fill you in.

  2. Congratulations to the Birds!

"Winning isn't something that happens suddenly on the field when the whistle blows and the crowds roar. Winning is something that builds physically and mentally every day that you train and every night that you dream." -Emmitt Smith-

Seniors finished their dream 54-1 on their HHS Football career... 21+33= 54!

    Icing on the CAKE! 3-Peat!

21 and 33 were in the hearts of everyone of those seniors each week and will be forever.:thumb:

  3. The week leading up to the State Championship can produce many distractions. How well a team handles the distractions can be essential to how they perform come game time. I've seen all 3 practices this week for the Birds and they were very focused and making good use of their time on the field. At this point of the season the "teaching" is over. It's time to put it all together for the game of their lives. I'm predicting a great game with great effort by both teams. Good luck to the young men on both teams. I'm sure your respective communities are very proud of you. Go Birds!

No offense to Trinity they're a top 10-15 team.

Highlands is tough not to many teams returning their entire starting line-up including their bench and adding a 6'-7" prescence inside. This team will bring it on defense make no mistake about. Flynn does not intend on walking the ball up the floor and hammering it out each possession. Mason Co. comes to down in a few weeks quess we'll have to wait and see.

    Who's 6'7" on their roster?

  5. Grote blew his football season way early and IMO it was a bad decision to even go out for Football this year. Look where it got him, hurt. I dont think he played in one game did he?

I dont believe they have any home scrimmages. The next one is down at Sheldon Clark on Saturday in the Ford Lane Classic. Its about 3 hrs away. They play Bath Co I believe in that one.

    Nope.

  6. Mitchell would have trumped Hamblin if he played 4 years with the Birds. Drake Bruns has a lil Mike in him. Can't wait to see him play some O probably as soon as next year. This Birds team is so good because they truely play together as one unit. They don't a ton of D-1 seniors. Although Bruns is D-1 caliber I can tell you that right now.

    A very good observation............

  7. Wow!!!!! After watching the replay, I can say we are very fortunate to still have our starting center playing football on the 2nd play of the game. He received one of the most vicious chop blocks in the knees from behind that I have ever witnessed. Imagine standing still and someone hits you full speed from behind and takes out your knees. That's what happened... Tyler Combs was jumping up and down celebrating the Touchdown when it happened. The video doesn't lie... It was called but it could easily ended Tyler Combs career that he has worked so very hard for. I understand these things happen when teams are down and out and have no chance in the game but it was the 2nd play from scrimmage. This was not something done out of fustration but rather premeditated. You can make all the excuses you want to protect this player at fault but what I saw there is no room for on the football field. It made me almost sick to my stomach to watch the replay of that one play. I hope Tyler is alright!!!!

TBirds, Tyler is fine. He was at our house this afternoon and we watched the game tape. You're right, it was very unnecessary to say the least. Fortunately he didn't suffer serious injury and the penalty was called.
