What happens next year? Rumor has it, HHS is considering putting a Freshman Baseball Team together next year. Does this impact the field controversy? Or, is this just rumor without merit?

Tell me some more about this Dierig kid. What position does he play? It is obvious where that gene pool originates from.
Too early to tell where he'll play at this point. His time in Jr. Football was spent mostly in the backfield on offense and linebacker on defense. Like LN said, "he'll work to play anywhere".
I believe his gene pool orginates mostly from the Kremer's and Dougherty's. His uncle, Jeff Kremer was the OB and DB for HHS back in the early 80's. Jeff went onto UK and I think held the record for most tackles in a season until Marty Moore another HHS grad broke the record during the Peach Bowl. The Dougherty family was a Bellevue crew that dominted Bellevue's teams, way back when. Tony Dougherty was a linebacker/punter on the early 80's HHS teams. Cam is alot like Tony, short, compact, muscular but brings it every play. Don't forget "Red Dog" Dougherty (great uncle). Mom (Jackie) was an outstanding volleyball, basketball, softball player for HHS in the mid 80's. Went onto play college volleyball.

Does anyone know how many boy's went out for the baseball team at Highlands? I heard they cleaned house with last year's coaching staff and brought in good baseball guy's to be the head coaches of both the Varsity and JV teams.

Anybody who has seen CCH frosh this year:
How has the big boy Schadler done? I know he is what 6'5 or 6'6, and maybe 250 pounds. I guess he is pretty raw since his name hasn't been mentioned. Does he have potential to be a dominant big man in NKY? I'm guessing there aren't too many frosh his size.
I was at the Highlands/Cov. Cath. game. He didn't get into the game.

Know any "Gate Keepers", that might let a little ole lady in so she doesn't get crushed by the masses? :sssh:
Henry 521, if you check with Stoe, I'm sure he'll let you through the breezeway..............

I think there is an intramural league at Highlands. My son was asked to play in it just last night.
Does it include any 9-12 graders? Do they play in the highschool gym or the middle school gym?
-
Does your school offer Intramural hoops for kids that don't play on the school team??
DMZ76 great idea! You lead the way! Recreating an intermural league at HHS would benefit so many kids. Once your out of the 8th grade there's not many rec leagues available unless your a so-called AAU stud.
I can remember playing against Coach Barr. Now he could really throw an elbow! It was a blast and kept everyone in good shape.

someone...please...more game details !!
Halftime score was 13-10 Cov. Cath. Both teams started the game "cold" to say the least. You have to also consider in the "Sanola" factor as one of the reasons everyone was uptight.

Is this the same group that only lost 1 game last year??? How "bad" does last year's coach look at this point ??? I've felt your pain!
Basically it's the same team minus the head coach, his son and another boy. I believe the coach wanted to move up from 7th to 8th, but the 8th grade coach was staying put. I'm not sure why he didn't stay to remain the 7th grade coach?

I believe the score was 43-42

Is it still open to "non-football" players like it used to be...back in the day ??
The younger group that works out on Tuesday and Thursday is open to anyone in the middle school. The 8th grade class is primarily the largest group to participate, but I've heard there are a few 7th graders. And yes, there a some boys that are attending but are not interested in playing football. It doens't apprear to have changed since Lumpy participated last year.

Is this an actual class that they take during school hours? If so, Dale maybe ought to look into starting this class at Highlands.
Good point FT. Although as you know, at Highlands 60 Minutes actually takes closer to 120 Minutes. With the amount of lifting and running (conditioning) the boys are up there for about 2 hours. I doubt the school board would support including it into the school day.
I did hear the turnout was good. Apparently there's some boys thinking they may play Frosh football even though they didn't play in the FTJFBL recently. Can't wait to see it all come together this fall.

I agree with NCBird and Family Tradition, there's no need to have Freshmen step up into primary roles at the Varsity level. Next years HHS Freshmen Class will be concentrating and dedicating themselves to carry on the undefeated seasons that have been played before them in recent years.
No doubt, it's going to be fun watching them all come together as one unit. I've heard most of them are working out regularly and even the basketball players are doing their part to get stronger and faster.

Not sure of the highschool, but John Shannon went to UK and played two seasons with the Chicago Bears. I think he went to Boone Co.
