  1. I agree. Not bad for a relatively new program to step out of the box and play one of the better programs lately in the state. I give the coaches and players alot of credit for stepping up to take on this challenge. JC is not the easiest places to play. Best of luck to the players and coaches the rest of the season.

  2. The Birds have an explosive offense and will put points on the score board. The defense will come around quickly. I recall last year at this time folks were worried about the defense, but they came around very early in the season to be outstanding all year. Keep working and be mentally prepared for practice all week to get better. Now is when it counts anyway. Birds 42 - 21

  3. :thumb: Good for both of them! Fine athletes, better people. The fact that they bought into the team concept, paid in positive results throughout their high school careers. Even if they did not play a down of football moving forward the boys had fun and past the tourch to future generations. The fact that they made decisions as student/athletes it says a lot about the boys and their families. Georgetown, Dayton, Centre, TMC are all great schools and even better close enough to follow the boys as they go through the college ranks. Success is in their futures and we are very proud and are certain they will represent the community well.

    And don't forget MSJ......:D

  4. If this kid was so good, why was he not a linebacker?

I think he prefers playing with his hand on the ground. This allows him to use his speed and quick hands to get off blocks. The HHS defense was solid with the states best Linebacker in Brandon Roller and the two corners (Bruns and Abner) playing practically perfect all season. All 11 played selfless and flew to the ball all season.

  5. It's really not that big of a deal. I believe the words "Best Ever" are transcribed on the inside of the ring and the words reflect the feelings of the Seniors, which is how I would feel if I was a Senior. Of course we all know that the 75 team was really the Best Ever!

I thought it said "mamawanna":D Just joking :sssh:

I hope the 2010 groups can say Best Ever Again:thumb:

  6. My daughter was checking out her brother's ring this yr for Highlands. Its real easy to get caught up with the bling on the outside. However, after very careful examination of the ring she noticed on the inside of the ring band some type of hidden message that you can only read if the ring is held at a certain angle. I still cant read it because of my poor eyesight, but I think she is right. There is definately something there. I think I know what it says. Someone or some people were obviously responsible for the sublimial message. Can anyone confirm this and tell me what it says or is it top secret.

Not sure if it's a secret, but I agree with it.:thumb:

  7. Brendan Sullinvan was back in equipment today after a brief absence due to some housekeeping issues. With him and Luke Dressman at the LB spots today and the two physical cornerbacks the Birds looked nasty today. The defense looks solid and the offense is not lookin to shabby either. Everyone stays healthy and the Birds will be tough to score on. They will get their points on the other side of the ball with the deep talent and special teams this yr will be both pivotal and a defiinte scoring threat with the talent returning kicks. Looking pretty good. 20n10

That's good to hear. We've seen Brendan and his Dad at church over the past few months. Wish nothing but the best for him. I look for him and Austin Abner to be the leaders of that swarming HHS Defense this year.:thumb:

  8. My son tells me stories from 30 years ago don't count....but I understand your point. What I would encourage is for you and all Bird fans to go all in with Coach Flynn. I firmly believe he is the right man for the job. It was evident he was working hard in the soph and frosh classes to keep the football players interested in basketball. So I hope we see Towles, Bruns and others on the hardwood next winter!

Look for good senior leadership from Stewart and Crowley next year. Dean and Egan can step up too.

Could this have been an issue with this years seniors?

  9. I hear they're playing not "Where's Waldo" but "WHAT'S Waldo" with Jason Waldenmeyer. The JR to be has been working extremely hard in the winter weight program AND with an outside trainer. He's dependable (ie. good student), tall, monkey long armed, and loves to play. They just don't know if he'll line up on D or O line. Wherever he lines up, I believe he'll be making a major contribution to a 20n10!!

I know from a reliable resource he's really been working hard and will get a shot to take over one of the 3 open d-line spots.

  10. Then I guess you think they should not have signed Benson, Tank Johnson, or Chris Henry back like they did before? I mean it was because getting guys like this for why they even had a winning season this year. You sure didn't have a problem with them having a winning season this year did you? Or would you have rather them just won around 4 or 5 games, which probably would have happened without those guys.

As I said before people might try to make a big deal out of it in the off season. However if it does end up helping the team and the team ends up winning, basically everyone ends up forgetting how upset they were about it, and don't care much anymore about the signings. I mean I really bet that most Bengal fans who are upset about it now, won't have any problems with it anymore if it helps them. We won't have anyone saying even though we are 13 and 3. I would have been 3 and 13 than having these guys on the team.

You can't build a team at the courthouse. Yes, they did great with Benson. I really like the way he plays. It's one thing to plug a questionable background player into a solid team, but you cannot have a locker room full of them. Oh, 13-3 will never happen, but I love the dedication to your team!!!!

  11. So you gave up on the Bengals after the 2006 season. They finally made the playoffs again in 2005 after such a long drought, and should have made it in 2006. And you decide to give up on them after that?

I really don't get some of my fellow Bengal fans. There was so many other BAD YEARS that would have made sense if you said you gave up on them after that. However for some reason people wait till after a good year to give up on them? I mean they made the playoffs this year, and now the creator of this thread wants to give up on them. He didn't want to give up on them after going 4-11-1 and the year before. I just really don't understand this thinking.

It was a good time to get rid of the tickets because of the demand. One or two semi winning seasons didn't cut it for me. Guess you could say I waited looooong enough for them to put a decent product on the field annually. They don't have to go to the Super Bowl every year, but I wanted to see a conscious effort to field the best teams possible. This didn't seem to me like it was ever going to happen as long as the current owner continued to run the team as he has.
