  1. I am glad to know that I haven't made people mad with my post. I have just been upset by the behavior that I observe around me in the stands. It has gotten to the point that I really don't like to go to the games anymore except for the fact that I am there to support my loved one.
  2. I have attend many many football games over the years, and after the last several that I have attended I have walked away discouraged with the fans that are in the stands. Here's Why: 1. Every person that is on the field has a family. It doesn't matter if it is a Player (who are KIDS which we often forget), Coach, Ref, or a member of the chain gang....my list could go on. Often times the families are the people sitting around the 'die hard fans' that don't have anyone out on the field, just a desire to see their team play. So when things are said like "That stupid kid could have caught that pass" or "Zebra, go back to school and get some glasses." or "Come on Coach, your schemes suck I could do better than you." Think about the families that are sitting around you. These families are just as proud of their loved ones as you are of your team. Words such as the ones that I too often hear in the stands hurt the families more than they hurt the person to whom it is directed. Unless you are standing over the fence yelling it the only people that are going to hear it are the people who are there to support the people you are yelling at. One more point here, small children attend the games and cursing everytime a ball is dropped or a bad call happens is not making it a friendly enviroment for the kids that just want to come and see a game. 2. Why are we yelling 'at' the teams that we are there to support? True fans should yell 'for' the team. The grim truth (which no one wants to hear or admit) is that passes that should have been caught will be dropped, balls fumbled, the defense will give up yards and the coaches will make questionable calls. What about yelling encouraging things? Yelling at our teams is just as bad as Booing your team. 3. Finally, too often we all forget that it is a game especially since it is a High School game. These kids are suppost to have a good time, and they are amatures. Wouldn't you rather them learn how to be good winners AND good losers and learn skills that will help them in life for years to come? When we take the fun out of it for them we are taking away the chance for them to learn valuable lessons. Except for ones like "gosh I wish my dad wouldn't yell and harass my coaches like that' Maybe I am way off base here but...I am just calling it like I see it.
  3. "4) Down by 15, you score to cut it to 9, On the try you get a penalty to push it back to the 8. Why do you go for 2? What were the chances of making it? It ends the game right there-rather than let your kicker kick it, get within 8 and go for two from the 3 if you get the ball back." Thanks for pointing that out. I couldn't agree more. I thought that was a very lousy play call. ESPECIALLY since the offense (or defense) hasn't been able to get much done all night it seems like a pretty risky and not thought out call.
  4. Doesn't anyone have a problem with the terrible call with 4 seconds left? We could have kept the score within 10 points. With 4 seconds left and down by 10 you take a knee if you are that deep into the other team's territory, especially if they have already intercepted several passes before. Coach Coverdale and Coach Beatty basically ran that in for X. Resulting in a score that really didn't reflect the effort and type of game that took place. We played with them for 3 quarters really putting some fear and left their fans questioning what was going on. Something else...Did anyone else think that their fans are some of the most obnoxious that we've encountered?
  5. I think it is funny that Bean has so quickly gone from a guy that everyone wants gone to some sort of hero. Whatever happened to believing in the scheme all along? I just hope that if things get tough a thread like this doesn't happen again.
  6. [2) Hard Working ,2 parents involved, kids that care] Sadly the argument that parents are involved is the downfall. Parents at the schools tend to be too involved and live their dreams through their kids pressuring them to play and taking the fun out of the sport for their child. Parents have also forgotten that the point of high school sports is to instill values in their children such as how to win and lose gracefully. Instead parents that I have seen lately have shown their children that it is alright to yell at their coaches and by doing this they are saying to their children that is alright to be disrespectful to people in authority. When did the parents start taking the fun out of the game for their children? and when did the schools start allowing such nonsence?
  7. The problem the Trinity D is going to have IMO is not the 'plays' that are called by Bean but the lack of size that the Trinity D has in comparison to the X's O. Bean has has tremendous success in years past and is finally getting the Trinity D to look like his 'traditional' D. The number one problem that they will face in this game is being outsized and outplayed physically.
  8. What about that Trinity D!!!! They sure were on fire tonight. Great job guys!
