  1. I think a Louisville win would be unlikely, but if the OL could give Teddy time, I'd like our chances to compete.

The way I saw Louisville get up for the Florida game, Alabama is the only team I would think they for sure couldn't beat. The Florida win is HUGE for momentum coming into this season. It will be interesting to see if they can sustain a lot of that throughout the year because for the majority of last year, they were fairly underwhelming.

  2. Seeing as UL will more than likely be in the Top 10, and has a legitimate shot at running the table, I'd say it would definitely help them.

A&M will have many opportunities to prove what they are throughout the year. As much as I would like to see it, becoming Louisville's Super Bowl to kick off the year is lose-lose.

  3. I mean, here's a list of accolades and expectations for Alex Poythress coming in to 2012:

    Preseason All-Freshman

    Preseason 2nd team All-American

    Preseason All-SEC

Was seen as a lottery pick in draft evaluations.

So, less decorated than Harrison Barnes, but let's not pretend that Poythress was seen as a project or something. Relatively speaking, he was just as big a flop.

Yea he has been so far but the Barnes comparison works because you are comparing him to the TOP guys Cal has had. Wall, Cousins, Knight, MKG, Davis, Noel... all elite level recruits, all one year in college, all top 5 picks (besides Knight who went 7th).

  4. While the bolded is true I'm going to say 99% of the guys Cal has sent to the pros were going there regardless of who they played their college ball for.

True, I guess I meant he is the best at getting them there fast and drafted low (or high whichever is better).

  5. When UK fans bring up Harrison Barnes as an example of a player hurting his stock, why do they ignore an example much closer to home?

I think if Alex Poythress had picked Duke, he would be gone. It's obviously just my opinion, but being expected to be the man at his position from day one hurt him, whereas he would have been off the bench for Duke. In that scenario, he plays fewer minutes with less on his shoulders and his ability would have trumped his low motor.

Again, just my opinion. This is not to say he would actually have been a better player.

There is just no way of knowing or guessing about your hypothetical Duke situation. The Alex Poythress I saw this year was not going to be a Top 10 pick in the draft no matter where he went to school.

Cal has an UNBELIEVABLE history of getting guys to the NBA since arriving at UK. Simply unmatched.
